Create 7z file

7z file is a compressed archive file created by 7-zip software. The default compression method used in 7z file is lzma which usually has higher compression ratio than other compression methods. 7z file also supports strong AES encryption. 7z archive is similar to other archive files, such as zip and rar, but because of the higher compression ration, the file size is generally smaller than the file created by other compression software.

PowerISO can create, extract, edit, and covert 7z archives. To create 7z archive,  Please follow the steps,

Method 1: Create 7z file using the shell context menu:

• Run PowerISO. 

• Click on the "New" button on toolbar, then select "7z archive" from the popup menu. PowerISO will create a new empty compilation for the new 7z archive.

• Add all files needed to the compilation and make necessary modification.

Click on the "Add" button on toolbar to add files and folders. You can also directly drag files and folders from Windows Explorer to the PowerISO window.



Click the menu "Action > New Folder" to create a new folder.

Click the menu "File > Properties" to set  the 7z file properties, such as password, compression level.

• After you have made all necessary modification to the compilation, You can save the compilation to a 7z file. Click on the "Save" button on toolbar, or choose the "File > Save" menu.

• The "Save file" dialog will popup. Enter the 7z file path name, and select the output format to "7z Archives (*.7z)" format, then click "Save".

• PowerISO will start creating 7z archive. It will show the progress information during writing 7z file. 

• After the operation completes successfully, PowerISO will automatically open the new created 7z archive.

 

Method 2: Create 7z Archive using the shell context menu:

• Open "My Computer" and select the files and folders which you want to add to 7z file.

• Right-click on the files selected, the shell context menu will popup.

• Choose the menu "Add to image file...".

• PowerISO main program will start to run. It will automatically add all files and folders selected to the current compilation, then prompts you enter the file path name and file format.

  Enter the file path name for the 7z file, and select the output format as 7z Archives, then click "OK". You can also enter a password to protect the 7z archive.

• PowerISO will start creating 7z archive. It will show the progress information when writing the 7z file. 

• After the operation completes successfully, PowerISO will automatically open the new created 7z archive. You can browse and view the files and folders in the 7z archive.
