Reset or change your Yahoo password

Your Yahoo password gives you access to every Yahoo service you use. If you've forgotten your password, you can reset it to get back in to your Yahoo account. It's also a good idea to update your password regularly and to make sure it's unique from other passwords you use.

Reset a forgotten password

From a desktop or mobile web browser

Use Sign-in Helper, Yahoo's password reset and account recovery tool, to get back into your account.

1. Go to the Sign-in Helper.
2. Enter one of the account recovery items listed.
3. Click Continue.
4. Follow the instructions given in the Sign-in Helper.

From most Yahoo mobile apps

If you're?currently signed into a Yahoo mobile app, but have forgotten your password and want to reset it, use the "Change password" option in the app:

1. Tap the profile icon.
2. If you're using the Yahoo Mail app, tap Manage Accounts. In other Yahoo mobile apps, go to the next step.
3. Tap Account Info. (In the Yahoo Mail app, tap Account.)
4. Tap Security.
5. Scroll to the bottom of the screen and tap Change password.
6. Enter a new password.
7. Tap Continue.

Change your password

From a desktop or mobile web browser

1. Sign in to the Yahoo Account security page.
2. Under "Ways of signing in," click Password.
3. Enter a new password.
4. Click Continue.

From most Yahoo mobile apps

1. Tap the profile icon.
2. If you're using the Yahoo Mail app, tap Manage Accounts. In other Yahoo mobile apps, go to the next step.
3. Tap Account info. (In the Yahoo Mail app, tap Account.)
4. Tap Security.
5. Scroll to the bottom of the screen and tap Change password.
6. Enter a new password.
7. Tap Continue.

If these steps don't work in your app, change your password using your mobile web browser.
