Tony's sham ovation for utter 失敗

After more than six years in 政府 and with Britain in an immeasurably worse 条件 than when New 労働 took 力／強力にする, it is perhaps no wonder the party chose to ignore reality at its 会議／協議会 this week.
Those waiting to hear how life for 'ordinary people' is going to be 改善するd listened in vain.
The 総理大臣's self-pitying, manipulative, self-indulgent and vacuous speech was bad enough; but given the trouble he is in with his own party, it is 理解できる that his 優先 was to 演説（する）／住所 委任する／代表s rather than a wider audience. However, other 大臣s showed a blind 無視（する） for the stark problems of our people.
The reality of Britain in 2003 is that a 64-year-old grandmother can be 発射 dead at point blank 範囲 in her shop in Nottingham, seemingly by 凶漢s looking for money for 麻薬s. Two hundred miles away in Bristol, another once-広大な／多数の／重要な city, 22 junkies are said to be 責任がある 67 per cent of the area's 罪，犯罪.
For some time, the Home 長官, David Blunkett, has appeared unwilling or unable to engage with such problems. Use of いわゆる soft 麻薬s is 効果的に decriminalised, sending a signal to 売買業者s that they can step up their activities.
In our major cities 同様に as many towns, the 支配する of 法律 has broken 負かす／撃墜する. 居住（者）s scoff at the complacent 声明 by the Home 長官 that there are more police than ever before and ask 簡単に: 'Where are they?'
投票者s hear （人命などを）奪う，主張するs by the Education 長官 that schools have everhigherstandards, and yet see their streets stalked by uneducated 青年s who drag 負かす／撃墜する whole communities. The 遺産／遺物 of the Wilson 政府's Sixties obsession with liberalising all social and moral 抑制s continues to take its deadly （死傷者）数.
Forty years ago, the use of 麻薬s was rare, 正確に because it was 厳しく punished. Moreover, had anybody then walked into a shop and 発射 the owner, they would have 直面するd the 死刑.
支援する then, police walked the streets. The 法廷，裁判所s had strong 許可／制裁s - and were not afraid to use them - against those who did wrong. Teachers were strong and schools instilled discipline and basic learning and, what is more, 尊敬（する）・点 for 当局 and for others.
In a society that had far いっそう少なく 構成要素 wealth than today, everyone understood that in return for enjoying such 権利s as health and education people had a 義務 to 尊敬（する）・点 the 法律 - and one another.
非，不，無 of these 問題／発行するs, of course, was even remotely touched upon by the 労働 会議／協議会. The whole stagemanaged show was designed to enable Mr Blair to 生き残る a little longer, and to engineer Gordon Brown's 結局の succession. As such, it was utterly irrelevant to 99 per cent of us.
Our 支配者s are playing games の中で themselves while the 残り／休憩（する） of us watch a country 崩壊するing, 肉体的に and morally.
In six and a half years, these posturing, incompetent mediocrities have 国／地域d public life, brought our Health Service to its 膝s, paralysed our 輸送（する） system, demoralised our police and civil servants, and created an army of wasteful bureaucrats for which they are beggaring the taxpayer.
It is not a pretty sight. No wonder 大臣s choose to keep 静かな about it. Most of us, though, have had enough. We yearn for a 熱烈な, angry 対立 to articulate our 苦しめる and sense of betrayal, and to 演説（する）／住所 the real 問題／発行するs.
The Tories have the chance at Blackpool next week. I just pray that, at last, they find the guts, and the 見通し, to take it.
