THE best poundfor-続けざまに猛撃する 闘士,戦闘機 in the world today has taken his place の中で the かつてない gods of the (犯罪の)一味.
Not bad for starters on Saturday night.
But what Roy Jones Jnr 遂行するd here transcended sport even at its most exalted, elevating him to the realms of Vincent 先頭 Gogh, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and William Shakespeare.
A trifle farfetched? Not for those who had the 特権 of watching genius at work as rain fell on the Nevada 砂漠 like 涙/ほころびs of adoration.
While in the 過程 of making ボクシング history, Jones created nothing いっそう少なく than a masterpiece. Not all 広大な/多数の/重要な 作品 of art are 限られた/立憲的な to canvas, the conservatoire or the quill pen.
証言,証人/目撃する the living tableau to which the artistry and craftsmanship of Jones gave such vivid 表現 that it will be printed indelibly on the memory.
At the finale to this dazzling 勝利 of the little man over one of the world's heavyweight 支持する/優勝者s, the audience stood to applaud.
For a few rare and precious moments we might have been in the 王室の オペラ House or t h e 国家の Theatre rather than the Thomas and Mack Sports Centre just off the Las Vegas (土地などの)細長い一片.
Lennox 吊りくさび was の中で those 主要な the ovation.
The Londoner, the preeminent heavyweight on the 惑星, was quick to 賞賛する the 速度(を上げる), variety and deadly punching precision which this fearless 侵入者 into his domain of the 巨大(な)s 適用するd to the 12- 一連の会議、交渉/完成する 死刑執行 of John Ruiz.
吊りくさび has been busy here giving マイク Tyson a twoweek 最終期限 to come to 条件 for their June rematch and 評価するing the 長所s of ウクライナ共和国's Germanbased Klitschko brothers as 代案/選択肢 対抗者s before deciding finally whether or not to box on.
All that was forgotten for an hour or two as 吊りくさび marvelled at Jones.
' Magnificent,' was his description for the way Jones 反抗するd the 負わせる of history by 選ぶing off the bigger, heavier, taller Ruiz as he (機の)カム 板材ing in.
It wasn't only that Jones became the first former middleweight to 勝利,勝つ a 部分 of the world heavyweight 肩書を与える since Cornish (頭が)ひょいと動く Fitzsimmons KO'd Gentleman Jim Corbett with Wyatt Earp and Bat Masterson in 出席 in Carson City 106 years ago.
吊りくさび realised at once the service Jones had 成し遂げるd for ボクシング. Seldom has the art of selfdefence been so ennobled.
'This was 技術 勝つ/広く一帯に広がるing,' said 吊りくさび, who considers himself a pugilist in the oldfashioned sense of the word for an educated 卒業生(する) of the hard school of prizefighting.
To which Jones 答える/応じるd: 'ボクシング needed a fight like this as much as I did.' So superior had he been as world 支持する/優勝者 at middleweight, 最高の-middleweight and most recently lightheavyweight that he had to 本体,大部分/ばら積みの up to heavyweight to find the challenge which would define his greatness in the minds of a 尋問 public.
Then he even made outclassing Ruiz look simple. ' It wasn't 平易な,' he said. ' The hard part was the 準備.' The 科学の 新規加入 of 25lbs - he 重さを計るd 200lbs by fight night - gave him the strength and belief to do more than just step into unknown 領土.
From talking all week about putting his own life in danger, Jones suddenly turned to his handlers as they were leaving the dressing room and said: 'Let's go. I'm going to kill him.' He did not do that but he did destroy Ruiz, not just by 破産した/(警察が)手入れするing his nose but by taking away his manhood.
Instead of hitting and running the way he was 推定する/予想するd to try to 避ける the 力/強力にする of the heavyweight, Jones stood his ground and 揺さぶるd Ruiz with sharp, 急速な/放蕩な, 正確な punches from all angles as he tried to engage in physical brawling.
Had it not been for the size differential, he would have taken him out 早期に.
As it was, once a headlong first-一連の会議、交渉/完成する 告発(する),告訴(する)/料金 from Ruiz had been 撃退するd, the points kept piling up for Jones.
It was not so much the chicken on the run, as had been 予報するd, but the matador playing the bull. And once Ruiz had landed his best 発射 only t o see his tormentor smile instead of go 負かす/撃墜する, if anyone was going to 配達する the ノックアウト, it looked more likely to be Jones.
So bemused and impotent did Ruiz become that 吊りくさび despaired of him, 説: 'In heavyweight ボクシング you have to take chances. But Ruiz was so worried about 存在 攻撃する,衝突する by a smaller man that he 危険d 非,不,無 of the things which would have given him hope of connecting with his own big punch.'
Perhaps the 追加するd humiliation of 存在 knocked out by Jones would have been just too much to 耐える.
Unless the 支払う/賃金-TV 人物/姿/数字s are 意味ありげに better than 推定する/予想するd, Ruiz, whose only 賭事 of the night was 受託するing a 百分率 of the take, may have lost everything or 絶対 nothing.
Jones took away not only a $10million 保証(人) and his WBA 肩書を与える but also Ruiz's pride.
As the first Latino to wear a heavyweight belt, Ruiz had hoped to 伸び(る) professional and public 尊敬(する)・点 by deflating the celebrated Jones boy. Now even his Hispanic machismo has been stripped from him by a smaller man.
Even more sadly, he was left bleating about the 審判(をする) as he made his way to hospital to have his nose 修理d. Jones, 一方/合間, basked in the 賞賛 for his masterclass in pure ボクシング 専門的知識.
吊りくさび paid him the compliment of wishing they could 会合,会う in the (犯罪の)一味, even though they never will.
While he knows that at 250lbs he is 簡単に too big and Jones 収容する/認めるs he would never dare take him on for 恐れる of 存在 killed himself, 吊りくさび 認めるs that this is one smaller guy 'who could (警官の)巡回区域,受持ち区域 a lot of the heavyweights'.
He will continue, perhaps, with former four-time 支持する/優勝者 Evander Holyfield in what promoter Don King calls 'the dream fight waiting for Jones if he wants to stay a heavyweight'.
That is by no mean 確かな , not with 吊りくさび still the 最高の 支持する/優勝者 of the (犯罪の)一味's titanic 分割.
But の中で Roy Jones Jnr's several (人命などを)奪う,主張するs to fame he can now 追加する becoming the best 続けざまに猛撃する-for-続けざまに猛撃する heavyweight in the world.
