Who can see pictures of tiny foetuses yawning and jumping and be CERTAIN abortion is not wrong?

As a man, do I have a 権利 to a 見解（をとる） on abortion? Many women would say no. They might not mind if I were プロの／賛成の-abortion. They would not much like it if I were against.

Abortion, so we have been told so often that most of us men believe it, is 最終的に a 事柄 for women. Of course men can have a 見解（をとる）, as any of us might have an opinion about the Maori question in New Zealand, whose 結果 非，不，無 of us is ever going to 影響（力）. But in the end, it is for women to decide. The 問題／発行する is women's 権利 to do what they want with their own 団体／死体s.

Women's 団体／死体s conceive and 養育する babies, and 耐える the 苦痛 of birth. How can a man 推定する to pass any judgment in this sphere? Surely it must be a woman's 権利 to decide whether or not she wishes to carry a baby to 十分な 称する，呼ぶ／期間／用語. So, we men mostly keep 静かな. We know that even an opinion 試験的に 表明するd against abortion will call 負かす／撃墜する the wrath not only of 交戦的な feminists but also of plenty of ordinary women who believe that this is their 商売／仕事. Many of us have 受託するd this.

Human

And then some new 証拠 appears which shakes us all, men and women. 乱すing photographs taken by means of a new technique show foetuses at 12 weeks walking and jumping in the womb. At 14 weeks to 15 weeks, they are photographed sucking their thumbs and yawning. In one sequence, a foetus of 17 weeks is seen sucking its little toe and then moving on to its big toe, as though coming to 条件 with its 団体／死体.

They seem like little human 存在s. They are little human 存在s. Not even anti-abortionists realised that young foetuses are so 高度に developed at such an 早期に 行う／開催する／段階 in the pregnancy. One picture shows the 直面する of a foetus 老年の 18 weeks with its 注目する，もくろむs wide open. Why call it a foetus? It is a baby.

There were 185,000 abortions carried out in 2002, and there are 概算の to have been some six million since the Abortion 行為／法令／行動する was passed in 1967. About 80 per cent of abortions ar e carried out before 13 weeks. Some 30 per cent occur between ten and 12 weeks when, as these pictures show, foetuses are 有能な of walking in the womb, and jumping around. In 2002, 2,573 abortions were carried out between 20 and 24 weeks, and some 114 at over 24 weeks. The position of the Roman カトリック教徒 Church is that the abortion of a foetus of whatever age is wrong because even an embryo a few days old has the 可能性のある for human life. This is not an argument that has 設立する much favour with our utilitarian 国会議員s. The 1967 Abortion 行為／法令／行動する 始める，決める the 限界 at 28 weeks. Later, it was 減ずるd to its 現在の 24 weeks.

The thinking was that until 28 weeks, 改訂するd to 24 as 薬／医学 前進するd, a foetus could not 生き残る outside its mother's womb. It was also believed that until this age, foetuses were so 原始の that they could not be 述べるd as human. Now these photographs tell us that even at 12 weeks a foetus is やめる a sophisticated little handful. But one which it is still 完全に lawful to kill.

And yet the 法律 does not say that foetuses have no 権利s. Even feminists do not （人命などを）奪う，主張する it. The question is at what 行う／開催する／段階 in the womb these 権利s are 設立するd. Only a very extreme person would argue that it should be 合法的 to 中止する a baby at, say, 35 weeks. So it is 受託するd even by the プロの／賛成の-abortionists that the 権利 of a woman to do as she pleases with her 団体／死体 must be circumscribed.

My own position is that of the Roman カトリック教徒 Church, not because I am a カトリック教徒, but because it seems to me wrong to take away the life of a living organism which has the 可能性のある for human life. I 受託する, though, that many decent and thoughtful people think さもなければ. And yet these same people do 受託する that at some 行う／開催する／段階 the foetus acquires 権利s.

Newborn

Look at these pictures again, you people, and ask whether a 12-week-old foetus which jumps about in the womb, or one which yawns at 15 weeks, or another which has its 注目する，もくろむs open at 18 weeks are not little human 存在s whom w e should wish to 保護する with the same vigilance and love as we would bestow on a newborn baby. It is heart-rending to imagine such miniature perfection, so 攻撃を受けやすい and so alive, 存在 vacuumed away into oblivion.

How could it be 権利 to end the life of such a foetus? If its own mother's life were 脅すd and a choice had to be made, perhaps. But for our convenience? To 持続する a lifestyle? To keep a 職業? To 妨げる it 存在 born on account of some small defect which we don't like? It is difficult to think so. More difficult, I think, now that we have seen these pictures. Abortion, like modern dying, is something most of us do not like to think about. The doctors will take care of it and never tell us 正確に／まさに what goes on. We try to 押し進める it away. How often I have heard friends - usually men - say that they don't like abortion but they would not dream of 干渉するing with a woman's 権利 to chose. This is either 臆病な／卑劣な or muddled. If we believe that abortion is wrong, we should argue against it, as we should argue against anything we think to be wrong.

Men have an equal 権利 in this 企業 as women. Women 耐える the 重荷（を負わせる） and the 苦痛. They are stronger and braver than men - we all know that. But abortion is a human question, because it is literally about the 権利 to life, and this is not a 事柄 that 関心s a 選び出す／独身 sex.

Misled

And women, too, are beginning to wonder whether they have not been misled by usually male doctors and usually male 政治家，政治屋s into thinking that abortion is much いっそう少なく 重要な than it really is. There are women who are now in their 30s and 40s and 50s who had abortions almost without thinking when they were younger because they were told that it was no more meaningful than a check-up at the dentist. Now they know better, and some of them 嘆く／悼む. They can't be 非難するd.

Perhaps, though, those of us who look at these photographs and turn away as though nothing had been learnt are at fault. They tell us something we might have 嫌疑者，容疑者／疑うd, but did not 正確に know, about the humanity of babies in the womb. To question abortion does not, as some 交戦的な feminists may tell us, make one a 根本主義 or an extreme 権利-winger or a women hater, though the few anti-abortionists who 雇う violent means to make their point deserve our contempt. History tells us that good people can 持つ／拘留する beliefs which その後の 世代s think are misguided. There is a movement 集会 軍隊 - of men and women, 自由主義のs and 保守的なs, Christians and humanists. Its credo is not so 革命の. Who can look at these pictures of tiny foetuses yawning and walking and jumping, and be 確かな that abortion is not wrong?
