Bennets with a game 計画(する)

Keira Knightley, Rosamund Pike, Brenda Blethyn and the other actors who play members of the Bennet 一族/派閥 in the film Pride And Prejudice (機の)カム up with a marvellous way of moulding themselves into a family 部隊: sardines.

No, not the fish - the game. Joe Wright, the director of this superb movie, took them all to the manor house at Groombridge in Kent, that was to be the Bennet home.

"The most important thing for me was to create the family," explained Wright, who made the picture (his first) after 狙撃 最高の,を越す television 演劇s such as Charles II: The 力/強力にする And The Passion, for the BBC.

"You've got these six women - five daughters and Mrs Bennet - all talking over each other, all wanting to be heard and all needing their space. They've got to appear real."

Once at Groombridge, the cast were running around the house playing the hide-and-捜し出す game. Tom Hollander, cast as Mr Collins, ended up in a tiny cupboard with six women.

"Tom kept 説: 'This is the happiest day of my life!'" Wright 解任するd.

In fact, it was all part of Wright's methodology. "You've got to create an 環境 of 受託," he said. "It's not that you're not 許すd to dislike each other, but you have to learn to find something you love in each other."

With a 名簿(に載せる)/表(にあげる) of formidable 指名するs 含むing Ms Blethyn, Judi Dench, Donald Sutherland, Ms Knightley and Matthew MacFadyen (the latter two playing Elizabeth Bennet and Mr Darcy), it was 必須の that Wright be 信用d enough to be able to speak his mind.

"Actors have a lot of tricks they use to 保護する themselves because they're 脅すd. When you see someone doing a trick, it means their 事実上の/代理 is 誤った.

"It's a 事柄 of unlearning these tricks and getting them to tell it from the heart," he said.

Wright even had to tweak Donald Sutherland who plays kindly Mr Bennet.

"I was terrified of telling Do nald he was over-事実上の/代理 at a 確かな moment - that was really scary. But that's when they 信用 you."

The 業績/成果s across the board are so refreshing that many are strong 可能性s for Oscar and Orange-Bafta 指名/任命s.

Wright 認める he was surprised to find himself directing a Jane Austen tale. "I thought it was the last thing I'd ever do. I thought I was a bit 冷静な/正味の and a bit groovy and imagined I'd do some gritty film as my first feature," he laughed.

He recounted how he took himself off to his 地元の pub one Sunday to read Deborah Moggach's script (which later got a little help from 物陰/風下 Hall and some 追加するd 'sparkle' from Emma Thompson).

"By the end, I was weeping into my pint," he said. "I was shocked by its emotional punch. It's such a classic because it speaks inherent emotional truths that are there now and always have been there.

"I'm not 利益/興味d in the class structure. I'm not 利益/興味d in English 遺産 or 伝統的な values. What I am 利益/興味d in is that these people are experiencing the same emotions, the same problems of 落ちるing in love, that we are today."
