DAN HODGES: Raynergate - So much for Keir's 誓約（する） for honour, 正直さ and accountability in 労働 politics
In years to come, historians will surely 令状 entire theses on the 役割 of wallpaper in modern British politics. It played its part in the downfall of Boris Johnson. And now it has exposed the lies of Angela Rayner.
For the past six weeks, 労働’s 副 leader has （人命などを）奪う，主張するd that between 2010 and 2015 her ‘home’ was a former 会議-owned flat in Vicarage Road, Stockport. With 増加するing 怒り／怒る and self-righteousness, she has 主張するd that it was not a larger 所有物／資産／財産 a mile away on Lowndes 小道／航路 占領するd by her husband and children.
This was 重要な, because had she been living in the second 所有物／資産／財産, questions would arise about 資本／首都 伸び（る）s 税金 義務／負債 from the sale of her Vicarage Road flat, and whether she had broken the 法律 by putting the wrong 演説（する）／住所 on her 選挙（人）の roll 入ること／参加（者）.
So ever since The Mail on Sunday’s 発覚s, Rayner has tried to bluff it out. She had done nothing wrong, she 主張するd. She had 協議するd a 税金 専門家, who had 安心させるd her all was 訂正する. 隣人s who told 非常に／多数の マスコミ organisations that she had been living in Lowndes 小道／航路, not Vicarage Road, were mistaken or mischief-製造者s. ‘My house was my house at Vicarage Road,’ she 宣言するd defiantly.

But Angela Rayner made one 致命的な mistake. She forgot about the wallpaper.
Or more 特に, she forgot about a Tweet she sent at 9.08p m, on October 26, 2014, proudly 陳列する，発揮するing a picture she owned by Scottish impressionist Alexander Millar. It could easily have been hanging in her flat in Vicarage Road. But the floral print wallpaper surrounding it gives the game away.
It’s the wallpaper that hangs in the 所有物／資産／財産 on Lowndes 小道／航路.
There are 非常に／多数の other Tweets. ‘Just got home,’ she 地位，任命するd on April 5, 2014. Again, the 所有物／資産／財産 pictured is Lowndes 小道／航路, not Vicarage Road. ‘Just got 支援する from work, and within 5 minutes my cats are on my 膝,’ she tweeted. The sofa she’s pictured on is the one in Lowndes 小道／航路, not Vicarage Road.
After 56 days of dissembling, distortion, duplicity, deceit and 否定, we finally have the truth. Angela Rayner’s ‘home’ was on Lowndes 小道／航路 all along. And we know this because of the contemporaneous words and tweets of Rayner herself.
Now she’s been caught bang to 権利s, we can 推定する／予想する Rayner and 労働 to begin to 転換 the goal-地位，任命するs. First, they will 試みる／企てる to （人命などを）奪う，主張する that because of 現在進行中の 調査s by the police, HMRC and Stockport 会議, they are unable to comment in 詳細（に述べる）.
Such a 姿勢 would be nothing more than a self-serving sham.
When the Met Police 調査／捜査するd Partygate, 労働 harried Boris Johnson and the Tory 政府 on the 問題／発行する week in, week out. There was no pause to 許す ‘予定 過程’ to run its course.
A second 手段 will be to cry foul and point to the 非常に／多数の examples of 保守的な 財政上の sleaze. The 指名するs of Nadhim Zahawi, Michelle Mone and Owen Paterson will undoubtedly be trotted out to try to deflect from Rayner’s mendacity.
But the 悪事を働くこと of each of these high-profile Tories has been fully exposed, and they have paid the appropriate political price. 労働 ? who are on the brink of 力／強力にする ? should not, and will not, get a pass from 類似の scrutiny.
Then there will be an 試みる／企てる to 小衝突 the whole saga aside as irrelevant Westminster navel-gazing. ‘What does a 会議 flat 事柄 when 始める，決める aside Gaza, cost-of-living, the small boats 危機’ will be the 差し控える.
But Angela Rayner, Sir Keir Starmer and the 労働 party have become masters at てこ入れ／借入資本ing the trivial into major 問題／発行するs of public probity. Boris and Carrie Johnson’s own No10 wallpaper. A slice of birthday cake. Rishi Sunak’s £180 coffee 襲う，襲って強奪する.
The Rayner house saga 事柄s. And the 推論する／理由 it 事柄s is because she, Sir Keir Starmer and the 労働 party have spent the past five years making 正直さ, transparency and honesty the 重要な dividing line between themselves and their 対抗者s.

Which means it’s time for Sir Keir to put his money where his 副 leader’s mouth is.
The 問題／発行する isn’t whether Rayner 避けるd a few thousand 続けざまに猛撃するs of 資本／首都 伸び（る）s 税金, or technically 違反d 選挙（人）の 法律 on 登録 of her home 演説（する）／住所.
It isn’t even about the fact that as part of her 前線 （法廷の）裁判 大臣の地位 she has 責任／義務 for both 住宅 政策 and 選挙 法律.
It’s that Rayner was the attack dog who was （軍隊を）展開する，配備するd to savage every Tory MP who crossed the line of political morality drawn by her insufferably pious party. And yet here she is exposed 陳列する，発揮するing the same mendacity and hypocrisy she so decried in the Tory party when she branded its members ‘scum’.
When the ありふれたs 特権s 委員会 配達するd its 判決 on Boris Johnson, Rayner 小旅行するd the broadcast studios to 宣言する the former 総理大臣 was ‘not only a 法律-breaker but a liar. He’s not fit for public office. He’s 不名誉d himself and continues to 行為／法令／行動する like a 続けざまに猛撃する shop Trump’.
井戸／弁護士席, Angela Rayner has been 証明するd to be a 続けざまに猛撃する shop Richard Nixon. ‘I am not a crook… there will be no whitewash at Lowndes 小道／航路.’
最終的に, there wasn’t a whitewash ? but only because Rayner’s 試みる／企てる at one was underdone by her own social マスコミ account.
So will Sir Keir Starmer 行為／法令／行動する? Will the man who once solemnly 宣言するd: ‘As a 事柄 of 原則 for me, it’s very important we have honour, 正直さ and accountability in politics’ take any 活動／戦闘 against his 副?
Or will those 罰金 words join so many of his other かかわり合いs and 誓約（する）s, and be cast on the bonfire when they 中止する to be 政治上 expedient? 非，不，無 of this had to happen. If Rayner had come clean at the beginning and volunteered to 支払う／賃金 any 税金 she might have 借りがあるd, everyone would have moved on. But, instead, she dug in, piling falsehood upon falsehood.
On BBC2’s Newsnight two weeks ago, she was asked about her Stockport living 手はず／準備. She passionately replied: ‘It’s a 非，不，無-story 製造（する）d to try and smear me.’
But it wasn’t. And she knew it wasn’t. Because unlike Angela Rayner, the wallpaper doesn’t 嘘（をつく）.
