STEPHEN GLOVER: Is Keir Starmer the unthreatening, 穏健な 相続人 to Blair he （人命などを）奪う，主張するs? Or far more Left-wing? Now we'll get to find out - and about time too
Why would Rishi do it? That was my instant reaction to his sodden and too 非常に長い 告示 of a General 選挙 on July 4.
インフレーション has 宙返り／暴落するd but the 利益 isn't yet felt by mortgage 支えるもの／所有者s because the Bank of England hasn't 削減（する） 利益／興味 率s.
航空機 are ready to 輸送（する） 違法な migrants to Rwanda but 非，不，無 of them has so far gone, apart from a 単独の volunteer.
税金 削減（する）s are too 最近の to have 登録（する）d fully with most 投票者s. Besides, we were hoping that the （ドイツなどの）首相／（大学の）学長, Jeremy 追跡（する）, might 手渡す 支援する a bit more in September.

Why now? Why not wait a few months until the economy is buzzing and the 政府's 計画（する）s are recognised to have come to fruition?
And yet as I had these thoughts, in ありふれた with many up and 負かす／撃墜する the land, a new 発言する／表明する in my 長，率いる 申し込む／申し出d an 代案／選択肢 opinion.
Rishi Sunak knows he's going to have a pitched 戦う／戦い with Sir Keir Starmer and the 労働 Party. Why not have it now? A true 軍人 doesn't sit on his 手渡すs if there's a fight to be had, and his 対抗者 is strutting around without having been put to the 実験（する）.
The country, like Rishi, has grown tired of waiting. Perhaps things will look a little rosier in the autumn, but then again they might not. There could be more embarrassing defections of Tory MPs, and その上の スキャンダルs. Hanging about carries its own dangers.
Almost the whole world, 含むing me, may have believed that an October or November 選挙 was sensible and 合理的な／理性的な. But Mr Sunak calculates that the 必然的な tussle with the 労働 leader and his party had better take place now.
Sir Keir and 労働 are 攻撃を受けやすい. They have climbed to a hefty lead in the 投票s not because 投票者s are drawn to their 見通し but because ― I don't suppose Rishi would put it so bluntly ― many people are fed up with the Tories.
Might it be (so the PM hopes) that, when Sir Keir and his mostly unimpressive 前線 （法廷の）裁判 are put on the 位置／汚点／見つけ出す in the cauldron of an 選挙運動, 投票者s will have second thoughts about ゆだねるing the country's 未来 to 労働?
Could it be that 投票者s will recognise that Sir Keir is a chameleon and an opportunist who, in the space of a few years, has travelled from the Hard Left embrace of his 'friend' Jeremy Corbyn to the boggy 沼 he 現在／一般に 住むs?
What do Sir Keir Starmer and his party stand for? It was a question Mr Sunak asked yesterday as he g ot soaked outside No 10. They have got away without 供給（する）ing an answer, hiding as they have behind Tory mistakes. In an 選挙, 労働 will finally be 軍隊d to give an account of itself.
My belief is that, for all his 試みる／企てるs to 説得する the 選挙民 that he is the unthreatening, 穏健な '相続人 to Blair', Sir Keir is both more Left-wing and far いっそう少なく 有能な.
This the Tories will 捜し出す to expose in what may be the nastiest and most 消極的な 選挙運動 we have had for years. And why not? Digging 負かす／撃墜する to find the real Sir Keir ― 除去するing 層s of blandness and 回避 ― is bound to be a painful 過程 for the 犠牲者.
Take 税金. Last week Jeremy 追跡（する） （人命などを）奪う，主張するd that 公式の／役人 見積（る）s 示す a £38 billion gap between 労働's spending かかわり合いs and 基金ing over the next four years, which means that every family will have to cough up an extra £2,000.
Not everyone will believe the （ドイツなどの）首相／（大学の）学長's arithmetic. Yet it's very hard to see how 労働 can afford its さまざまな 事業／計画（する）s without 増加するing 課税. 投票者s know that the party never leaves office having 減ずるd the 税金 重荷（を負わせる）. The Tories won't tire of 説 as much in the coming weeks.
Look at 貿易（する） union 権利s. 強化するing them is one of the few 誓約（する）s made by Sir Keir during the 2020 労働 leadership 選挙 to have 生き残るd his endless political somersaults. His 副, Angela Rayner, has 支持する／優勝者d the 原因（となる）.
Ah, Ange! With her appetite for class war, and the unanswered questions about the sale of her 会議 house, she 申し込む／申し出s an endlessly 生産力のある seam for 企業ing 保守的なs.
Then there's defence, where 労働 has foolishly failed to match the 政府's 誓約（する） to raise spending from about 2.3 to 2.5 per cent of GDP by 2030. At a time of conflagrations in Europe and the Middle East, the Tories will （種を）蒔く 疑問 in people's minds about 労働's reliability.

Speaking of the Middle East, 労働's support for イスラエル has 損失d it with イスラム教徒 投票者s, as 地元の 選挙s earlier this month showed. In a characteristic piece of backtracking, 影をつくる／尾行する foreign 長官 David Lammy called on Monday for Israeli 首相 Benjamin Netanyahu to be 逮捕（する）d if the 国際刑事警察機構 法廷，裁判所 問題／発行するs a 令状.
Mr Lammy is another fascinating 熟考する／考慮する. For one thing, he's one of several members of the 労働 前線 （法廷の）裁判 who ― how shall I put this kindly? ― 刺激する reasonable questions about 品質管理. I don't （人命などを）奪う，主張する the Tory 前線 （法廷の）裁判 would 勝利，勝つ 無線で通信する 4's 一連の会議、交渉／完成する Britain 質問（する）, but it surely （太陽，月の）食／失墜s 労働's.

And so it goes on. The 政府 may not have yet packed off any 違法な 移民，移住（する）s to Rwanda but it does have a 計画（する） of sorts. The same can't be said of Sir Keir Starmer, who has been unable to come up with any intelligible 計画／陰謀. Here Rishi Sunak 直面するs a gaping goal.
My suggestion isn't that the Tories are going to have an 平易な time of it. 明白に not. 労働 must remain favourites to 勝利，勝つ. For the Tories to overturn such a 抱擁する lead in the 投票s would probably be an 前例のない 業績／成就.
But I do believe that the fitness for office of Sir Keir Starmer and his team is going to be 実験（する）d as never before. The 選挙民 knows all about Tory failings. It doesn't yet know about 労働 shortcomings.
Some may 疑問 whether Rishi and his 同僚s have the toughness and ruthlessness to 追求する 労働 as they should during the （選挙などの）運動をする. I'd certainly keep the dampish 副 首相 Oliver Dowden in the wings. I hope we see a lot of Kemi Badenoch, and that Boris Johnson is used.
In the end, though, it will be おもに up to Rishi. It's a 賭事, of course it is, but with the Tories 20 points behind in the 投票s he can reasonably say that he and his party have little to lose and everything to 伸び（る）.
I don't think he is 存在 petulant, or that he's cutting and running. I don't even believe he has an 注目する，もくろむ on a 未来 life 存在 paid zillions of dollars in America while the 残り／休憩（する） of us are ground 負かす／撃墜する in 労働's 荒涼とした, uninspired 政権.
Rishi is clever, and he's evidently 勇敢に立ち向かう. He understands that Sir Keir Starmer is the 問題／発行する. It will be a terrific fight, the fight of a lifetime. I'm glad it's happening at last.
