SARAH VINE: The Queen asked just ONE thing of Harry and Meghan. Would it kill them to show 尊敬（する）・点 for her memory?
The late Queen, it seems to me, didn’t ask for an awful lot. She did her 職業 with dedication and grace, lived 比較して frugally (for someone in her position), 演習d her judgment with 親切 and 知恵 and was, on the whole, a 許すing soul.
She was certainly endlessly 患者 with the variously tricky egos in her life, even when they 押し進めるd her to 限界s most of us would have 設立する intolerable.
But the one thing she did 推定する／予想する, 特に from those の近くに to her, was 尊敬（する）・点 for the 役割 of 君主国 and the 会・原則 itself, and a （疑いを）晴らす understanding that neither were to be taken for 認めるd nor, more importantly, 偉業／利用するd.
For her, 存在 a member of the?王室の Family?was an honour not a 特権 ? and certainly not an 適切な時期 for personal 伸び（る）. That is why she was so 広範囲にわたって loved and 尊敬（する）・点d, and why the 君主国 was 安全な in her 手渡すs.
It was also why, when?Prince Harry and the Duchess of Sussex 宣言するd their 願望（する） to stand 負かす／撃墜する as working 王室のs and 追求する a life as ordinary people across the 大西洋, the late Queen’s one 規定 was that they would not use their HRH 肩書を与えるs.
It was a gentleperson’s 協定: no 公式の／役人 documentation or 王室の 法令 was sig ned; it was 簡単に an understanding based on 相互の 尊敬（する）・点. Elizabeth II was very fond of her grandson, and he ? or so he always said ? of her.
She probably thought, having left him a tidy sum, which he 相続するd on his 40th birthday, 同様に as other bequests, he and his wife would neither need nor want to break her 信用. Sadly, it appears she was wrong.
As part of her 宣伝の blitz for her lifestyle brand As Ever, the Duchess sat 負かす／撃墜する this week with the make-up entrepreneur and 億万長者 Jamie Kern Lima, who has a podcast. It was やめる the 業績／成果.

Against a background of tinkly piano music, Lima lapped up the self-満足させるd drivel with an 表現 of beatific smuggery reminiscent of a 巨大（な） toad who has just swallowed the biggest, fattest, juiciest 飛行機で行く. There were a lot of blurry cutaways of the Duchess throwing her 長，率いる 支援する in joyous laughter, or rolling her 注目する，もくろむs in faux self-deprecation. Those same 注目する，もくろむs glistened with 涙／ほころびs of self-love as she spoke ? without a trace of irony ? about her time ‘in the ざん壕s’ (aka living in a rather nice house on the Windsor 広い地所 with not a 選び出す／独身 money worry, oc casionally showing up for things in a nice dress and a tiara).
Neither of them wore make-up, 推定では so their authenticity can be as 明白な as their pores. As a 熟考する／考慮する in 欠如（する） of self-認識／意識性, it’s unintentionally hilarious ? and useful should you ever find yourself in need of an emetic.
So far, so predictable. But then, 推定では 圧倒するd by emotion in the 直面する of such unalloyed joy and 知恵, Lima ‘株d’ an image of a small wicker basket 含む／封じ込めるing two tubs of ice-cream, a sprig of 造幣局 and a マリファナ of the Duchess’s jam, …を伴ってd by a 公式文書，認める that said: ‘With the compliments of HRH The Duchess of Sussex’.
Now, if that doesn’t come under the 長，率いるing of ‘using a 王室の 肩書を与える for 商業の 目的s’, I don’t know what does. Sources ‘の近くに to the couple’ have argued that, since the 妨害する was a personal gift, it does not count. But really, surely, that’s just splitting hairs? (Not to について言及する that 課すing your HRH on to friends 陳列する，発揮するs a Prince Andrew-level of pomposity). 簡単に, the 肩書を与える is not theirs to use. So why are they using it? More to the point, why do these two think they can get away with this? Do they think people are stupid? Does the Duchess think we 簡単に won’t notice? And how much longer is she going to continue to cast herself as a 犠牲者 of the British 君主国 ? while all the time using it to flog her brand?
For this is by no means the first time. にもかかわらず 明らかに despising everything the 王室の Family stands for, they 指名するd their daughter Lilibet, which was the late Queen’s 愛称 as a child, just to 固く結び付ける that 関係. They even went so far as to 登録（する） domain 指名するs for ‘LilibetDiana.com’ and ‘LiliDiana.com’ before the child’s birth.
Oh, and let’s not forget the telling-off that the Duchess gave to friend Mindy Kaling, who accidentally called her ‘Meghan Markle’ in an episode of her Netflix show. ‘You know I’m Sussex now,’ she purred, with all the warmth of a tiger about to 切断する its prey’s jugular.
For two people desperate to shrug off the mantle of 王室の life, Meghan and Harry seem to be very closely wrapped up in it. But in a way, it’s not the Duchess I 非難する the most. At the end of the day, it’s not her family she’s 偉業／利用するing (not that she’s much kinder to them). It’s Prince Harry’s. The fact that he seems neither to mind nor want to do anything about it is telling. It’s either an 指示，表示する物 of who wears the trousers in that 関係 or proof that he really couldn’t care いっそう少なく about the wishes of his late grandmother ? a woman without whom, let’s f エース it, he would be just another balding middle-老年の man.
Prince Harry 借りがあるs everything he has ? from the （犯罪の）一味 on his wife’s finger to his beloved Invictus Games ? to his 王室の roots. He may not like it, but it’s the truth (in fact, would Meghan Markle, as she then was, even have given him a second ちらりと見ること had he not been a prince?).
The late Queen asked just one thing of him. Would it kill him, just for once in his life, to show some 尊敬（する）・点 for her memory?
