Last week, whil e the 注目する，もくろむs of the nation were trained on the Olympics and the fantastic 業績／成果 of Team GB, Bank of England 知事 Sir Mervyn King 配達するd the 悲惨な 予測 that there will be 無 growth in the economy? in 2012.

Then, only a day later, it 現れるd that the UK’s 貿易（する） 赤字 had 広げるd to £4.3billion in June ? its worst level since 類似の 記録，記録的な／記録するs began in 1997.

Alarmingly, Britain is struggling to sell goods to countries both inside and outside the 負債-ridden EU, leaving 大臣s’ 計画（する） A ? to 輸出（する） their way out of trouble ? in 危機.

Yet, instead of setting out a 決定的な 返答 to this desperate news, the two halves of our dysfunctional, pantomime horse 連立政権 have embroiled themselves in another petty 列／漕ぐ／騒動 ? this time over whether to 延長する Sunday 開始 hours beyond the duration of the Olympic summer.

Not only are they woefully 欠如（する）ing in big ideas. Pathetically, warring 大臣s can’t even agree on the more modest ones.

Tory MPs are now 需要・要求するing that the 総理大臣 and （ドイツなどの）首相／（大学の）学長 準備する a 職業s 法案, to fill the gaping 穴を開ける left in the 連合’s barren 法律を制定する programme by the demise of the botched 計画（する） to ‘改革（する）’ the House of Lords.

But the 残虐な truth is that even if (and it’s a big if) Lib Dem 商売／仕事 長官 Vince Cable can be 説得するd to make the minor changes which MPs want to see on planning 法律s and 雇用 権利s, it will not be enough.

What is needed is nothing いっそう少なく than a 根底となる rebalancing of the 明言する／公表する-driven economy in favour of the wealth-creating 私的な 部門.

Britain 要求するs 過激な 削減（する）s to 税金, 国家の 保険 and 付加価値税, with real 削減s in public spending to 支払う／賃金 for them. 会社／団体 税金, which 大臣s have been 徐々に 減ずるing, must? be 削除するd.

抱擁する 組織／基盤／下部構造 事業／計画（する）s should be prioritised. 手足を不自由にする／（物事を）損なうing green 徴収するs on 燃料 法案s must be axed.

Money which is 存在 lavished on international 援助（する） and vanity 事業／計画（する）s like 勝利，勝つd farms should be redirected に向かって creating 職業s for Britain’s one million out-of-work youngsters.

There should be a 本物の bonfire of red-tape and 職業-destroying quangos.

The Olympics have 解除するd the mood of the nation and 供給するd 17 days of joyously welcome distract イオン from our 経済的な woes.

But that warm glow will soon disappear if 大臣s don’t stop their squabbling and, before it’s too late, produce a 信頼できる 計画（する） to drag the country out of 後退，不況.

In his first 発言／述べるs since becoming chairman of スキャンダル-攻撃する，衝突する Barclays Bank, Sir David Walker says he agrees ‘in 原則’ with ending 解放する／自由な banking.

Never mind the fact that, with all the 存在するing overdraft 料金s and hidden 告発（する），告訴（する）／料金s, it’s a nonsense to pretend the banks aren’t already squeezing their 顧客s until the pips squeak.

What is most gratuitously 不快な／攻撃 is Sir David’s suggestion that, if the banks had 課すd 告発（する），告訴（する）／料金s 簡単に for having a bank account sooner, they would not have felt the need to 引き裂く people off by mis-selling 製品s such as 支払い（額） 保護 保険.

Or, put another way, it’s the public’s fault the 銀行業者s behaved so despicably because 顧客s weren’t 手渡すing over enough money each month to 保証（人） their fat 特別手当s!

Such comments are その上の proof, if any were needed, that the banks still don’t get it. How much longer must we wait before 大臣s see sense and order a 裁判官-led public 調査 into their shameful 行為／行う?
