ANDREW PIERCE: Deluded Euro fanatics who never learn

Yesterday, the Lib Dem 会議/協議会 was packed to hear Danny Alexander, the 長,指導者 長官 to the 財務省, defend the 目的(とする)s of the European Movement

The European Movement, 始める,決める up after World War II, is still committed to joining the 選び出す/独身 通貨 and 降伏するing ever more 力/強力にするs to Brussels.?

No surprise then that its 決起大会/結集させる at the Lib Dem 会議/協議会 yesterday was packed to hear Danny Alexander, the 長,指導者 長官 to the 財務省, and Charles Kennedy the former Lib Dem leader, defend its 目的(とする)s.?

It was at a 類似の 決起大会/結集させる, organised by a young Alexan der and 演説(する)/住所d by Kennedy in 1999, that Tony Blair memorably 宣言するd: ‘Once in each 世代, the 事例/患者 for Britain in Europe needs to be remade, from first 原則s.?

‘We are told that Europe is bad for the British economy, that 存在 part of Europe means abandoning our 同盟(する)s in the USA, that Europe is obstinately against 改革(する), 献身的な to bloated 官僚主義 rather than the needs of European 国民s, that 存在 in Europe means losing our 身元 as the British nation, that as a consequence, Britain should 支配する out joining the euro and should 準備する to leave Europe altogether.?

‘It is time we took each of these arguments in turn and 破壊するd them.’?

Yet curiously neither Alexander nor Kennedy ― who led the standing ovations for Blair 支援する then ― nor any other (衆議院の)議長s, について言及するd the 選び出す/独身 通貨 yesterday.?

Were they too embarrassed, I asked Kennedy, who is 大統領,/社長 of the European Movement.

‘We could have won a 国民投票 in his [Blair’s] second year in office on the 原則 of joining the 選び出す/独身 通貨 when the circumstances were 権利,’ he said. Some people, it seems, never learn.

The Cameron crumpet factor

The PM can get so overheated during interviews that it would be possible to toast crumpets on his blazing cheeks

The PM can get so overheated during interviews that it would be possible to toast crumpets on his 炎ing cheeks

労働 MP Michael Dugher is 怪しげな of David Cameron’s 紅d cheeks during マスコミ 外見s. The 影をつくる/尾行する 大臣 asked how much 負かす/撃墜するing Street has 爆撃するd out on cosmetics and make-up artists since the General 選挙? ‘No money has been spent,’ replied an affronted PM. One interviewer tells me that the PM can get so overheated during interviews that it would be possible to toast crumpets on his 炎ing cheeks.

At last, 賞賛する for Red Ed Miliband: ‘I really like Ed Miliband, so I don’t want to diss him. I don’t want join in with the Tories who compare him to Kinnock.’ Bad news is the compliment (機の)カム not from a 労働 MP but Tim Farron, the Lib Dem 大統領,/社長. Jim Murphy, 労働’s defence 広報担当者, tweets: ‘I like Tim Farron so don’t want to diss him. I don’t want join in with the public who compare him to a sanctimonious little plotter.’ やめる.

In his pitiful TUC speech, Red Ed 試みる/企てるd to placate the Brotherhood when he 誓約(する)d a 労働 政府 would 廃止する all 無 hours 契約s. Yet only three weeks ago the 政策 position was the 逆転する. Chuka Umunna, the 影をつくる/尾行する 商売/仕事 長官, said: ‘We are not 現実に 前進するing an entire 禁止(する) on these 契約s. いつかs people like to use them.’

Yet another 調印する that the unions are ますます calling the tune since the Falkirk debacle. In 早期に 草案s of the speech Milband attacked David Cameron for 存在 ‘like Thatcher’. This is the same Miliband who said in November: ‘She was a 有罪の判決 政治家,政治屋 and I think 有罪の判決 really 事柄s.’

How would he know?

Party that's green with envy

At the Green party 会議/協議会 in Brighton? 委任する/代表s 審議d a 動議: ‘How should Greens break into 集まり popular 認識/意識性 as UKIP have done?’ An explanatory 公式文書,認める on the 動議 観察するd: ‘UKIP has had the sort of 選挙(人)の and マスコミ 衝撃 which many 観察者/傍聴者s had 示唆するd the Green Party might 達成する (and that we surely need to 達成する). What factors have engineered Ukip’s 人気. Is there a 抗議する 投票(する) they get which could go Green instead?’ In short, no.

The Ukip MEP Godfrey Bloom and Euro 候補者 Janice Atkinson are 持つ/拘留するing a 会合 in London on Friday to encourage more women into politics. They say: ‘We do not believe in 肯定的な 差別, gender 割当s and tokenism, therefore you are cordially 招待するd to bring a man.’
