Why does Fergie stifle her daughters in matching outfits?

There is only one thing more oppressive to a child's 開発 than a mother dressing her daughters in matching outfits when they are little and that's dressing them in matching outfits when they're big.

Then Mum gets in on the 行為／法令／行動する and starts wearing matching frocks and - snap - you've got a recipe for 災害 worthy of the 王室の Family, 特に when Mummy just happens to be the Duchess of York.

Enter Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie with Fergie at Bea's 18th birthday masked ball, wearing what appear to be Victoria Beckham's sitting room curtains - before she got posh.

Just look at 甘い Bea. With the trademark cascading Fergie curls and Mum's penchant for brocade, bustles, fuss and frou-frou, it was as though Fergie was recreating herself.

But what was in their mother's mind? By all accounts her daughters are lovely young women, hard-working and sensible, にもかかわらず their parents, and Beatrice is a deserved favourite of the Queen.

Pretty enough, both daughters needed help on Bea's big day to bring out their good features, lovely hair and 注目する，もくろむs, and make the most of their still developing 人物／姿／数字s.

But then along （機の）カム Mum desperate to make an impression, and good sense went out the window. The York girls and Mum wore the same curls, same lipstick and same style.

When the girls were little, Fergie 絶えず dressed them the same, as 小型の-Fergies. Even then it felt as though she was stifling their individuality, as though she 手配中の，お尋ね者 them to be a 部隊 inextricably linked with her. It went beyond normal motherly pride.

The first pictures of them dressed identically as little girls were terribly 甘い. By the time Beatrice and Eugenie wer e in their teens, it smacked more of a mother who couldn't bother to 選ぶ out two separate outfits. Then, more recently, （機の）カム the same style but different colours, but always with the 示す of Fergie.

As Mum started dressing them to look older and herself younger, it all started to 落ちる into place. This wasn't about fashion - this was 所有／入手, a 肉親，親類d of uniform so everyone could see they were Fergie's girls; 王室の you know.

You need only to remember Fergie's fashion 跡をつける 記録，記録的な／記録する to realise why the girls looked the way they did on Bea's big day. This was not about them, but about re-設立するing Fergie's 王室の 信任状. And what else could we have 推定する／予想するd from this one-woman 最高の，を越す-Ten Worst-Dressed 名簿（に載せる）／表（にあげる）, the woman whom designers begged not to 明らかにする／漏らす she was wearing their 着せる／賦与するs because it was such bad publicity.

With a past like that, why would Fergie 主張する not just on dressing those poor girls in her favourite designers, but dressing them the same and the same as her?

We had a hint of things to come when the 'tripod', as Fergie likes to call herself and the 王室の girls, turned out for their Duke of York's Order of the Garter 儀式 a few weeks ago.

老年の 16 and 17 (Beatrice 現実に turns 18 next month), the Princesses' outfits were far too grown-up for them, with matching 削減（する） and hemline, and took no account of the curvaceous 人物／姿／数字s they 相続するd from Mum and Dad. The outfits were 完全にするd with long, unfashionable locks and unwise hats, one of Mum's specialities.

8.18pm on August 8, 1988. But, as I say, so much of this event was planned not for Beatrice, but to 増強する Fergie's 王室の links.

After all, that's how she makes her money these days, by mercilessly milking her 王室の 関係s which, let's be honest, have become pretty flimsy of late.
