Olympic スキーヤー Gus Kenworthy has opened up about struggling with 不景気 and suicidal thoughts before he （機の）カム out 公然と as gay, admitting that 'hiding a 抱擁する part' of himself 'really took a （死傷者）数' on his mental health.

The British-American 29-year-old, who won silver for the US at the 2014 Winter Olympics in 2014, spoke candidly about mental health and 存在 a gay professional 競技者 in a new interview with US Women's サッカー 星／主役にする Megan Rapinoe for Abercrombie & Fitch's new?IGTV series.

'It's exhausting 存在 in the closet,' said Kenworthy, who has?代表するd 広大な／多数の／重要な Britain since last year. 'There was so much time and energy put into harboring that secret that I think it really took a （死傷者）数 on my mental health and I struggled with 不景気 and at moments in my life, thoughts of 自殺.'

'It's exhausting 存在 in the closet,' said the British-American 29-year-old, who won silver for the US at the 2014 Winter Olympics in 2014

'I think for a lot of my career and my coming up in the sport, my mental health was 肉親，親類d of put on the 支援する burner, and I feel like I was really compartmentalizing. I was not out of the closet. So I was hiding a 抱擁する part of myself and my life,' Kenworthy said.

'And I really just had a hard, hard time 存在 proud of myself and coming to 条件 with myself and 受託するing myself.'

He 追加するd that it's 'exhausting' and 'takes a lot of energy' to hide 存在 gay.

'If you're in the start gate at a 競争, and you hear someone be like, "Oh my God, these 裁判官s are 存在 so gay 権利 now," and you're like, "承認する, 井戸／弁護士席, that's 現実に not what they're 存在 at all." But it takes you out of the moment.

'And it takes so much energy to put that aside and stay 焦点（を合わせる）d,' he went on.

'It's exhausting 存在 in the closet and I can 完全に understand the 恐れる and paranoia, whether it's because you're from a 宗教的な family, or you're in a really small 保守的な town, or you're in sports or an 産業 that doesn't やむを得ず lend itself to 存在 gay and having it not be タブー.'

In a 2015 interview with ESPN, nearly two years after he took home silver?in the men's slopestyle at Sochi, Kenworthy 公然と （機の）カム out.?

'I think for a lot of my career and my coming up in the sport, my mental health was 肉親，親類d of put on the 支援する burner, and I feel like I was really compartmentalizing,' he said

'When I did take that stand and come out it was the best thing I could have ever done for my mental health,' he said

'When I was in the closet, and I was at training （軍の）野営地，陣営s when I was a kid, I would make sure I was the last person to 落ちる asleep because I was 脅すd I was gonna 落ちる asleep and out myself in my sleep, '原因（となる） I talk in my sleep.

'So then for me to finally be out and not have to worry about all these different things and [to] feel proud of who I was, it was so 解放するing. It was just the hugest 負わせる off.

'I think that mental health is so important and I'm so glad that it's something that is getting talked about more and more frequently now because it's so i mportant for everybody,' he said.

'It's 特に important for LGBTQ kids who are at a much higher 危険 of self 害（を与える）, just because they do struggle to come to 条件 with themselves, ourselves, and the 率 of 自殺 is so much higher.?

'We didn’t even have an Abercrombie 蓄える／店 in my town [growing up] ― we had to go to a 商店街 in a bigger town. It 全く brings me 支援する to my younger days.'
