How much do I love this photo of Katy Perry, who gave birth to her daughter, Daisy Dove, just over three months ago?

Who hasn’t got a pair of these enormous nylon and spandex pants tucked away at the 支援する of their underwear drawer? They were, for many years, a woman’s 有罪の secret, never, ever to be pegged 公然と on the washing line, or 明らかにする／漏らすd in the 早期に 行う／開催する／段階s of a 関係.

I’m reminded of the moment nearly 20 years ago when Renee Zellweger, as Bridget Jones, struggled to compress her dimpled flesh into her 率直に enormous pants at the very first 審査. Every woman in the audience stood up and 元気づけるd. We felt ブイ，浮標d, vindicated, seen, absolved. We were good enough. We weren’t alone. We wore those things too.
Isn’t this picture of Katy Perry just what we need to silence the wail that goes up every time we glimpse yet another cadaverous celebrity who has lost the baby 負わせる? Or see a 60-something 提起する／ポーズをとるing in a bikini?

The idea that women’s 団体／死体s need no help from undergarments is a 公正に／かなり 最近の one. Flick through Vogues from the 1950s and 1960s and there are 非常に／多数の adverts for girdles and corsets. Unfortunately, the fashion for a boyish 人物／姿／数字 同時に起こる／一致するd with the にわか景気 in cheap, ready-to-wear 着せる／賦与するs that got rid of darts, 直面するing, even lining, which had helped tame wobbly bits.
When I was a stocky 11-year-old, I tried on my grandmother’s chemise. I couldn’t do it up, made as it was for an 18 in waist. I had no idea she only 達成するd that by wearing a corset, which were 集まり-produced by the turn of the century. This is why I spent the next 30 years on a diet. If only Katy Perry and her 巨大（な） pants had been around then.
There’s something 安心させるing about controlwear. Posture is 改善するd. 着せる／賦与するs fit better, even if you’re a size 10. If your skirt is 解除するd in a strong 勝利，勝つd, no one sees your 腎臓s. You feel pulled together. Strong. I can’t wait to see what Katy does next.
