Eating fatty foods is not the only 推論する/理由 children put on 負わせる (提起する/ポーズをとるd by model)

Professor ツバメ Savage, 顧問 paediatric endocrinologist at the London Clinic, believes a child who is moderately overweight but not showing any physical disadvantages in 決まりきった仕事 activities shouldn't be a 原因(となる) for 関心.

'It's when they become abnormally overweight or perhaps experience difficulties doing things such as climbing stairs that it is time to take 活動/戦闘,' he says.

Putting on 負わせる during childhood is an 必須の part of 開発 since the growing 骸骨/概要 and building of muscle 要求する a 重要な level of energy, 解放(する)d from the calories in food.

However, the 率 at which youngsters grow, and therefore put on 負わせる, 変化させるs from child to child.

'Some will fill out just before what is known as a growth spurt as this is the 団体/死体's way of 保存するing energy before it goes through a vigorous growing 行う/開催する/段階,' explains Paul Sacher, a paediatric dietitian at 広大な/多数の/重要な Ormond Street Hospital and 研究 director of MEND, an organisation 献身的な to 減ずるing 全世界の childhood obesity levels.

'T hese spurts tend to happen between the ages of five and seven and again just before puberty. Parents need to be careful as the last thing they should be doing before a growth spurt is 制限するing diet.'

Overweight children are more likely to experience chronic health problems in later life.

But how can you 位置/汚点/見つけ出す if a child has an 現在進行中の problem or is just going through a chubby 段階?

Doctors 跡をつける a child's 負わせる on what is known as a 'centile' line: a graph that 予報するs 親族 高さ and 負わせる 伸び(る) for their age. If a child, for example, is growing along the 50th centile, it means he is 普通の/平均(する) build for his age since half of children at his age are bigger and half are smaller.

Moving 上向き from one centile to another, however, may 示唆する a 負わせる-伸び(る) problem.

'You cannot 結論する anything from a 選び出す/独身 reading unless a child appears 意味ありげに overweight,' says London-based GP Dr 略奪する Hicks, who specialises in family health.

Instead, he looks for other telltale 調印するs, such as 蓄積するing 団体/死体 fat around the middle as this 増加するs the 危険 of heart 病気 in later life.

Dr David Haslam, 臨床の director of the 国家の Obesity 会議, says: 'What parents need to be aware of is if a child becomes 顕著に overweight over a period of time.'

You can 監視する a 潜在的に chubby child by using MEND's calculator at www.mendprogramme.org.
