Humans alive today could reach 140, (人命などを)奪う,主張する scientists.
Many 専門家s have long 嫌疑者,容疑者/疑うd that the human lifespan had 攻撃する,衝突する its 限界, with no one likely to より勝る the 記録,記録的な/記録する of Jeanne Calment, a chain-smoking French woman who died 老年の 122.
But a new 熟考する/考慮する has 結論するd we are still 'far away' from any 最大限 ― if, in fact, there is one.
And there is even a 50/50 chance that someone born in 1940 in the UK will reach the impressive age of 125.
That would mean an octogenarian today still 存在 alive in 2065.
![I'm thinking of the finding by Dr David McCarthy and his team that at least some Britons of our generation - Mrs U and I were both born in the 1950s - are likely to live beyond the age of 122, which until now has been the greatest recorded age attained by any member of our species. 研究員s from the University of Georgia analysed the lifespans of people in the UK born as far 支援する as 1880 to work out what may be possible in the 未来.
Their 発射/推定s show men born in 1970 could 潜在的に reach the age of 141, and the oldest women born in 1970 could reach 131.
But these people are still so young the authors say they have 'no 信用/信任' in these 見積(る)s, 警告 they may be 不確かの because they rely on 確かな 統計に基づく 仮定/引き受けることs.
They are much more 確かな that a man born in 1940 could reach his 125th birthday, and a woman born in the same year reaching the age of 124-and-a-half.
These 見積(る)s have a 50/50 probability.
The oldest person in the world so far is believed to have been Ms Calment, who was 報告(する)/憶測d to have reached the age of 122 years and 164 days, although some 専門家s are 懐疑的な about this.
For 25 years, no one else in the world has reached that age.
The 熟考する/考慮する looking at lifespans across 19 separate countries to try to understand if ageing is 存在 compressed or 延期するd.

The Office for 国家の 統計(学) 予報するs the life 見込み of men born in 2070 in the UK will reach the age of 85 on 普通の/平均(する), while women will be nearly 88 when they die
Compression means that more people are reaching a good old age, such as their nineties.
延期 means the age which people can live to is getting older.
The results, published in the 定期刊行物 PLOS One, 示唆する the age at which people die will 増加する 劇的な in the coming 10年間s.
In Sweden, which has the most years of data, the 最大限 age someone could live to stayed much the same for men born in 1900, compared to those born in 1780 ― four 世代s earlier.
But the rise of modern 薬/医学 after WW2 and better 栄養 and political 安定, の中で other factors, may have 与える/捧げるd to the 劇の 増加する in lifespan seen up until now, and 事業/計画(する)d to continue.
The authors say the oldest の中で people born between 1910 and 1950 may 定期的に live to 120 or beyond.
Dr David McCarthy, who led the 熟考する/考慮する from the University of Georgia, said: 'As these cohorts 達成する 前進するd ages in coming 10年間s, longevity 記録,記録的な/記録するs may 増加する 意味ありげに.
'Our results 確認する 事前の work 示唆するing that if there is a 最大限 限界 to the human lifespan, we are not yet approaching it.'
Charlotte Hughes, who was born in August 1877 and died in March 1993 is the longest-lived person ever 文書d in the UK, having reached the age of 115 years and 228 days.
