Health Service 顧問s yesterday 保持するd the 権利 to work in 私的な clinics after the 政府 was 軍隊d into a climbdown over 契約s.

The doctors had 脅すd a 集まり NHS ストライキ if 大臣s 行為／法令／行動するd on a 誓約（する） to 禁止（する） 顧問s from 私的な practice for the first seven years of their hospital careers.

The 政府 手配中の，お尋ね者 to be seen to clamp 負かす／撃墜する on the 'gin and tonic' image of 顧問s 収入 thousands from lucrative 私的な clinics, but doctors complained that its 提案s would erode their 権利 to choose where to work.

Yesterday the 詳細な計画 for the 顧問s' new work 協定s was 明かすd and it 現れるd that Health 長官 Alan Milburn had 洞穴d in to 圧力 from doctors' leaders.

The 妥協 取引，協定 gives the NHS first call on newly-qualified 顧問s' time, 軍隊ing them to work 48 hours a week for the NHS.

The old 9am to 5pm working week for 協議s will go and be 取って代わるd by hours of 8am to 10pm Monday to Friday and 9am to 1pm at 週末s to encourage 柔軟な working and fit in with 患者s' busy lifestyles.

However, once 顧問s fulfil their 48-hour 割当 they will be 解放する／自由な to fit in 私的な 臨床の work.

In return, a 20 per cent 支払う／賃金 rise will be 手渡すd out to new consultantsin an 成果／努力 to 緩和する NHS staffing problems and 妨げる the 'brain drain' of experienced doctors moving to work abroad.

Starting salaries will rise from £52,640 a year to £63,000 and doctors will also be paid for on- call work and overtime, which is 決定的な to help 大臣s 削除する waiting 名簿（に載せる）／表（にあげる）s.

The 最大限 salary will rise to around £85,000, compared with £68,000 now.

The 契約 示すs the first 改革（する） of doctors' working 協定s since the start of the NHS in 1948 and follows 14 months of 緊張した 交渉s with the Department of Health and 政府 公式の／役人s.

It will now be sent to 26,000 顧問s for 是認 and is 推定する／予想するd to 施行される from next April.

Dr Peter Hawker, chairman of the British 医療の 協会 顧問s' 委員会, said: 'There is a good 取引，協定 in prospect which is fair to 顧問s and fair to the NHS.

'顧問s are the most 高度に-trained and experienced professionals in our hospitals with unique 技術s that need to be 適切に valued.

'The 提案するd 上げる in their salaries is long 延滞の. The NHS is getting a 取引.'

Mr Milburn told the British 協会 of 医療の 経営者／支配人s 会議／協議会 in London yesterday: 'The new 契約 is good news for NHS 患者s and for NHS 顧問s.

'It 申し込む／申し出s more 支払う／賃金 for NHS 顧問s so that more NHS 患者s 利益 from more of their precious time and 技術s.

'Crucially, it recognises and rewards those NHS 顧問s who do most for the NHS.'

Nursing leaders said the salary 上げる and 条件 of service would 増加する 期待s の中で nurses in their 交渉s with the 政府.

王室の College of Nursing general 長官 Dr Beverly Malone said: 'Nurses will now have high 期待s of their own 支払う／賃金 and career modernisation.

'Nurses are at the 最前部 of modernising the NHS - they are taking on new 役割s and working hard to 供給する better care for more 患者s.

'It is time to 適切に recognise their 技術s, 専門的知識 and dedication. The 政府 has 配達するd for doctors - they now have to 配達する for nurses.'
