Tetley told to 減少(する) tea health (人命などを)奪う,主張するs

Tea 巨大(な) Tetley was told by the advertising 監視者 today to 減少(する) 誇張するd health (人命などを)奪う,主張するs.

The company was criticised for poster adverts 誇るing its tea was "rich in antioxidants that can help keep your heart healthy".

In its 判決,裁定 today the Advertising 基準s 当局 (ASA) said the (人命などを)奪う,主張する was "誤って導くing" as the health 利益s of drinking Tetley tea had not been proven.

Tetley say the 独立した・無所属 Television (売買)手数料,委託(する)/委員会/権限 (ITC) has also upheld a (民事の)告訴 about its television adverts for 類似の 推論する/理由s.

The judgments will come as a blow to Tetley which 取って代わるd the famous animated Tetley Tea Folk characters after 28 years with a £15 million (選挙などの)運動をする in February.

The new adverts use the スローガン "Tetley loves you", with the "love" 代表するd by a large heart.

調査s by the ASA and ITC were 誘発するd by (民事の)告訴s from the Food (売買)手数料,委託(する)/委員会/権限, an 独立した・無所属 group (選挙などの)運動をするing for healthier food.

Tetley sent the ASA 31 熟考する/考慮するs and 専門家 opinion to 支援する its (人命などを)奪う,主張する that tea rich in antioxidants can help keep the heart healthy.

The 当局 took its own advice however and 設立する "no 増加するd health 利益s from tea 消費."

It said several of the 熟考する/考慮するs about the 肯定的な 影響s of drinking tea called for more 研究 before a 会社/堅い 結論 could be reached.

"Although antioxidants might help 妨げる coronary heart 病気, the advertisers' 証拠 did not 演説(する)/住所 variables, such as type of antioxidants in Tetley tea and the level of antioxidants 吸収するd by tea drinkers," the ASA said in its adjudication.

The 当局 upheld a second (民事の)告訴 about the same advert over the use of the スローガン "Go on, live a lot."

It called the (人命などを)奪う,主張する "誤って導くing" because people were likely to 解釈する/通訳する it as meaning drinking tea would help 妨げる heart 病気 and 長引かせる life.

Tetley argued its advert 単に said its tea "can" help に向かって a healthy heart, not definitely would.

It said the TV advert had been 認可するd by the Broadcast Advertising 通関手続き/一掃 Centre (BACC), although 譲歩するd the 委員会 of Advertising Practice, which advises advertisers on print and poster (選挙などの)運動をするs, had told them there was not enough 証拠 to support their (人命などを)奪う,主張するs.

Nick Kilby, Tetley marketing and 開発 director, said: "We are astounded by this 判決,裁定 and surprised that there has been an 反対 to our communication regarding the health 利益s of tea, 特に as the BACC had 以前 given us 是認 to run the 広告s."

Teltey said the adverts with the "誤って導くing" (人命などを)奪う,主張するs had since finished and there were no 計画(する)s to repeat them.

Kath Dalmeny, from the Food (売買)手数料,委託(する)/委員会/権限, said: "Sales in the hot-drinks 部門 have been flagging over the past few years but this is no excuse for companies like Tetley to make 誇張するd and 誤って導くing (人命などを)奪う,主張するs to 上げる their sales."

The ITC said it could not 確認する it had upheld the (民事の)告訴 against Tetley until the 判決,裁定 is published.
