有罪の, fertility 専門家 who deceived women

by DAVID WILKES, Daily Mail

A fertility scientist in 財政上の trouble who deceived women desperate to have babies was 直面するing 刑務所,拘置所 last night.

Paul Fielding 許すd eight 患者s to have 偽の embryos placed in their wombs as part of an (a)手の込んだ/(v)詳述する deception to try to 支払う/賃金 off his 負債s.

He falsified 記録,記録的な/記録するs to cover his scam. But his 記録,記録的な/記録する-keeping was such a 'shambles' it cannot be 支配するd out that some women were given embryos belonging to other 患者s rather than those made with eggs from their own 団体/死体s.

Fielding let the women を受ける 操作/手術s when no embryos were 現在の because he got paid each time the 手続き was carried out. His deception was 暴露するd when audits at the clinic 明らかにする/漏らすd that the embryos the 患者s thought had been transferred to their wombs had remained in frozen 貯蔵.

Fielding, who earned £49,000 a year, was paid £50 each time he (人命などを)奪う,主張するd to have defrosted an embryo for use.

He was in 'horrendous' 負債 at the time and needed money to 支払う/賃金 for work on his house and a new car, Southampton 栄冠を与える 法廷,裁判所 heard. He had 貸付金s totalling £30,000.

Yesterday, に引き続いて a 13-day 裁判,公判, Fielding trembled in the ドッキングする/減らす/ドックに入れる as a 陪審/陪審員団 罪人/有罪を宣告するd him of eight 告発(する),告訴(する)/料金s of 誤った accounting and three of committing 強襲,強姦s, occasioning actual bodily 害(を与える) on women.

裁判官 John Boggis QC 延期,休会するd the 事例/患者 until January 15 for psychiatric 報告(する)/憶測s to be 完全にするd before Fielding, 44, is 宣告,判決d. He was given 無条件の 保釈(金).

The 裁判官 told Fielding: 'Your 罪,犯罪s are despicable and you 直面する a custodial 宣告,判決.'

Fielding deceived 患者s at the Hampshire Clinic, 近づく Basingstoke. He was also 長,率いる embryologist at the NHS-run North Hampshire Hospital in Basingstoke, where he had worked since 1992.

The 操作/手術s were undertaken by gynaecologist Robert Bates who was unaware that the microscopic embryos were absent during the 治療, the cour t heard earlier.

At an earlier 裁判,公判, Mr Bates, 46, was (疑いを)晴らすd of six 告発(する),告訴(する)/料金s of keeping a human embryo without licence.

After Mr Bates had 除去するd eggs from 患者s 支払う/賃金ing £500 or more for the 治療, it was Fielding's 職業 to mix them with their partner's sperm in his 研究室/実験室.

But Fielding, from Whitchurch, Hampshire, would 手渡す 支援する to Mr Bates a duplicate 実験(する) tube of 塩の 解答 instead and keep the embryos in 貯蔵.

Three of the women 苦しむd 苦痛, bleeding and bruising as part of a 'futile and invasive' 手続き. They had been tricked into giving their 同意, therefore Fielding had essentially committed 強襲,強姦.

An 調査 at the clinic showed Fielding had 蓄える/店d 39 embryos in his 研究室/実験室 which should have been implanted.

同様に as the eight women who gave 証拠 about the 偽の 手続き, a その上の three were 設立する to have been 影響する/感情d by the scam.

Pregnancy 率s at the clinic had fallen from 33 per cent in 1997 to just 15.7 per cent in 1999. No pregnancies resulted from frozen embryos at the clinic from 1997 to 2000.

Fielding's bosses, 関心d at the 人物/姿/数字s, 招待するd 専門家s from other clinics to recommend changes.

He was 逮捕(する)d after an audit in 2000 明らかにする/漏らすd that embryos belonging to 47 患者s had gone 行方不明の - meaning up to 58 women could have been conned by Fielding.

The Human Fertilisation and Embryology 当局 later 行為/行うd an audit of all 115 fertility 部隊s in Britain. 'Inconsistencies' were 設立する at several 部隊s. It has since 強化するd its systems.

Last night, one of the women duped, フランs Douglas, 44, said she had spent around £2,000. She 追加するd: 'This was my last chance to conceive.'
