Football could be heartstopping
Football teams' poor 業績/成果s on the pitch may literally 証明する to be heartstopping for fans, it 現れるd today.
A new 報告(する)/憶測 showed a 重要な 増加する in the number of heart attack and 一打/打撃 deaths の中で male 支持者s whose 味方するs have just 苦しむd a home 敗北・負かす.
Dr 法案 Kirkup, North East director of public health, 診察するd the frequency of the deaths over five years in 物陰/風下d, Newcastle, Middlesbrough and Sunderland.
He 設立する that home 敗北・負かすs for those cities' teams led to a 30 per cent rise in the number of male deaths from heart attacks and 一打/打撃s on the day of the match.
The most extreme example was in Sunderland - whose long-苦しむing fans have seen their 味方する relegated this season - where the rise in deaths was 63 per cent.
Cities where teams have had a little more success 苦しむd lower but still 重要な 増加するs - 19 per cent in Newcastle, 18 per cent in Middlesbrough, and 17 per cent in 物陰/風下d.
Dr Kirkup co-authored the new 熟考する/考慮する, A 事柄 Of Life And Death: 全住民 Mortality And Football Results, with fellow 研究員 David Merrick, of the Yorkshire and Humber public health team.
The pair believe emotional and psychological 強調する/ストレス 誘発するd by a 消極的な result can 誘発する/引き起こす the 潜在的に deadly 条件s の中で football fans and 見積(る) the true 人物/姿/数字 might be even higher than 30 per cent.
That is because they were able to look only at the whole 全住民 around each club - some of whom would not have been 利益/興味d in the match 得点する/非難する/20. Deaths in women were not 関係のある to results.
Dr Kirkup said: "We have 設立する a 一貫した link between football results and deaths from heart attacks and 一打/打撃s.
"Our results are new, but not surprising. People are at 危険 through smoking, poor diet and 欠如(する) of 演習 - but a heart attack or 一打/打撃 can be precipitated by a '誘発する/引き起こす factor' such as 怒り/怒る, 失望/欲求不満 or low mood."
Dr Kirkup, who is a lifelong 支持者 of Newcast le 部隊d and a 現在の season ticket 支えるもの/所有者, 追加するd: "We are not 示唆するing that men shouldn't go to football matches. Nobody could かもしれない go through life 避けるing everything that might 伴う/関わる 怒り/怒る, 失望/欲求不満 or other 誘発する/引き起こす factors such as unaccustomed exertion.
"The way to 避ける heart attacks and 一打/打撃s is to 減ずる underlying 危険 - don't smoke, 改善する diet and take 正規の/正選手 physical activity."
"As an 熱心な football fan myself, I am only too aware of what an emotional roller-coaster watching your team play can be.
"One of the things that 誘発するd me to look at the 影響s on health was my experience of に引き続いて Newcastle 部隊d. In the last two years I have 本人自身で given first 援助(する) to three 支持者s who have 崩壊(する)d after games.
"Our results remind us that, to many, football is much more 'a 事柄 of life and death' than it is 'only a game'."
