Modern mums are often portrayed as 存在 irrational for stopping their children playing with dirt.

But the 苦境 of Paralympian スキーヤー and 旗-持参人払いの Millie Knight shows there are real 推論する／理由s to be 用心深い.

The 15-year-old was blinded in one 注目する，もくろむ by an 感染 known as toxocara, which is 契約d from 汚染するd 国／地域.

What is toxocara?

Toxocara are essentially dog worms, whose eggs are passed out in the dog’s faeces. 偶発の ingestion 原因（となる）s humans to be 感染させるd.

Children playing in parks are most at 危険, as 国／地域 may be 汚染するd by passing canines. Toddlers putting their 手渡すs in their mouth after playing in dirt or eating 国／地域 are another at-危険 group.

How many people are 影響する／感情d by toxocara in the UK?

熟考する／考慮するs have shown that up? to three per cent of the UK 全住民 have antibodies to the parasite, which means they have ingested it at some point.

Once ingested, the eggs hatch in the intestine and the parasite larvae cross the gut 塀で囲む into the bloodstream.

Handwashing after 存在 in the park, and before eating, are 必須の, as is washing all raw vegetables before eating.
