Women who take longer to get 妊娠している are more likely to give birth to a boy, 研究員s have said.

The 熟考する/考慮する 設立する that women whose cervical mucus is 比較して 厚い would have more problems conceiving 自然に because of the difficulties 直面するd by the sperm. They 設立する male sperms were better able to 対処する with the 厚い mucus.

The Dutch team 設立する around 58 per cent of women who had tried to conceive 自然に for over a year had a boy, compared to 51 per cent who became 妊娠している in a shorter time.

They calculated that each year of trying gave couples a 4 per cent higher chance of having a boy.

This was the 事例/患者 even when taking into account factors such as age, smoking and alcohol use.

Dutch 研究員s at Maastricht University looked at 5,283 women who gave birth between July 2001 and July 2003.

It's a boys' world

One explanation could be that male sperm is more successful in implanting in the womb.

The 割合s of X (女性(の)) and Y (male) sperms in human semen are equal. But more boys than girls are born around the world in a 割合 of 105 to 100.

The 研究員s said their findings supported that idea Y 染色体 sperms are able to swim faster than X 染色体 sperms in 厚い, viscous fluids.

But if they did manage to get 妊娠している 自然に, after a longer time of trying, they were more likely to conceive a boy because the Y sperms were better able to 対処する with the 厚い mucus.

They did not find a link between the sex of babies and time taken to get 妊娠している in couples who received 医療の help to conceive.

The 報告(する)/憶測 was published in the British 医療の 定期刊行物.
