A glass of ワイン a day 'could slow dementia'

Having a glass of ワイン could do more than 高める your food - it may 保存する your memory for longer, say doctors.

New 研究 shows just one drink a day may 延期する dementia in those at 危険 from the 病気 because they are already having memory problems.

It is the first 熟考する／考慮する to look at people with a 条件 called 穏やかな cognitive impairment, a 過度期の行う／開催する／段階 between normal ageing and dementia in which mental abilities have started to 悪化する.

Those who drank modest 量s of alcohol developed dementia, 含むing Alzheimer's 病気, at an 85 per cent slower 率 than those who did not drink, says a 熟考する／考慮する in the 医療の定期刊行物 Neurology.

専門家s said the message was "little and often" for people wanting to 保護する their memory - as high levels of alcohol 消費 can lead to dementia.

In the 熟考する／考慮する Italian 研究員s 手段d the alcohol 消費 and brain 機能（する）／行事ing in almost 1,500 people 老年の 65 to 84 years.

They 跡をつけるd 121 people with 穏やかな cognitive impairment and their progression to dementia for more than three years.

Those who had up to one drink a day - mostly ワイン - developed dementia at an 85 per cent slower 率 than people with 穏やかな cognitive impairment who never drank alcohol.

研究員s Vincenzo Solfrizzi and Francesco Panza, at the Department of Geriatrics at the University of Bari, said: "Many 熟考する／考慮するs have 査定する／（税金などを）課すd alcohol 消費 and cognitive 機能（する）／行事 in the 年輩の.

"But this is the first 熟考する／考慮する to look at how alcohol 消費影響する／感情s the 率 of progression of 穏やかな cognitive impairment to dementia."

Alcohol may guard against dementia because it is good for the 循環／発行部数 and may stop hardening of the arteries in the brain.

The 研究員s said: "The 機械装置責任がある why low alcohol 消費 appears to 保護する against the progression to dementia isn't known.

"However, it is possible that the 協定 of 血大型船s in the brain may play a 役割 in why alcohol 消費 appears to 保護する against dementia.

"This would support other 観察s that drinking 穏健な量s of alcohol may 保護する the brain from 一打／打撃 and vascular dementia."

研究 from the French ワイン地域 of Bordeaux showed people with the highest 消費 of red ワイン減ずるd their 危険 of dementia by 45 per cent.

Professor Clive Ballard, director of 研究 at the Alzheimer's Society, said: "We have known for some time that drinking in moderation may help 保護する the brain against developing dementia whilst also keeping the heart and 血 system healthy.

"This 熟考する／考慮する is 利益／興味ing because it looks at the link between?people already experiencing?穏やかな cognitive impairment and the 衝撃 of drinking alcohol.

"As this is a 比較して small 熟考する／考慮する, with some 制限s,?it is too 早期に to say that a drink a day will 延期する the progression of dementia but it is certainly an area that deserves その上の研究.

"We would encourage people to enjoy a drink in moderation, it may also help 減ずる your 危険 of dementia. The 陪審／陪審員団 is out on whether the type of alcohol makes a difference, but the 証拠 is 特に good for red ワイン.
