A 40-minute 操作／手術 is 存在 used to 扱う／治療する the most ありふれた form of 糖尿病. The 外科 bypasses part of the digestive system and appears to 取り組む the symptoms of Type 2 糖尿病, although it is not yet （疑いを）晴らす how it 作品.

In a 臨床の 裁判，公判 which is 予定 to start this month, 50 患者s are having the 手続き, which has been shown to be 効果的な in 研究 on animals and on a small number of people.

In one 熟考する／考慮する, some 患者s experienced big 減少（する）s in 血-sugar levels almost すぐに.

The 治療, known as duodenal 除外, 伴う／関わるs bypassing part of the upper small intestine or duodenum, so that food from the stomach goes 直接／まっすぐに into the lower small intestine.

Most food is turned into glucose which the 団体／死体 uses for energy. One of the duodenum's 職業s is to break 負かす／撃墜する fats, sugars and other 構内／化合物s in the food before they get into the next part of the small intestine.

The nutrients are then 吸収するd into the 団体／死体 before the 構成要素 passes into the 結腸.

One of the 推論する／理由s the 外科 may help to 減ずる 糖尿病 symptoms is because it 減ずるs the 量 of food 患者s are able to digest. People who are overweight - with a 団体／死体 集まり 索引 over 25 - are more at 危険 of Type 2 糖尿病.

In particular, people who are an apple 形態／調整 - with lots of fat around the abdomen -are at greater 危険 of developing 糖尿病.

"If you bypass the duodenum you won't 吸収する food 同様に. There will be いっそう少なく digestion," says Professor David Matthews, a 糖尿病 specialist at Oxford University.

Professor Matthews says: "It is 価値（がある） doing the 裁判，公判. 患者s will lose 負わせる and their 糖尿病 will probably 改善する. It is an expensive way of approaching 糖尿病, but it should be 効果的な in a lot of people, although some will get 味方する-影響s."

糖尿病 Type 2 is a 重要な and growing health problem. There are just under 1.9million adults with 診断するd 糖尿病 in the UK, and it is 概算の another 589,000 are yet to be 診断するd.

The 危険 増加するs with age - より小数の than one per cent of people under 34 have 診断するd 糖尿病 compared with 10 per cent of those 老年の 75 and over.
