WHAT IS A BRAIN-EATING AMOEBA?

Naegleria fowleri is 一般的に referred to as the 'brain-eating amoeba' as it can 原因（となる） a rare and 破滅的な 感染 of the brain called 最初の／主要な amebic meningoencephalitis (PAM).

But the 感染 is very rare, and によれば the CDC, there have been about 35 事例／患者s 報告（する）／憶測d in the U.S. in the last １０年間.

The 選び出す／独身-独房d organism is 一般的に 設立する in warm freshwater, such as lakes, rivers, and hot springs, 同様に as in 国／地域.

感染 typically occurs when people go swimming or 飛び込み in warm freshwater places, like lakes and rivers.

In very rare instances, Naegleria 感染s may also occur when 汚染するd water from other sources (such as inadequately chlorinated swimming pool water or heated and 汚染するd tap water) enters the nose.

You cannot get 感染させるd from swallowing water 汚染するd with Naegle ria.
