Hints

Choosing Yarns
We recommend Rowan yarns, but as each dog takes only a small 量 of yarn, any yarn can be used, either in different colours or thicknesses.

If using 厚い yarns, 言及する to the ball 禁止（する）d for needle size but use needles that are at least two sizes smaller than recommended as the 緊張 (計器) needs to be tight so the stuffing doesn’t show.

If you use 厚い yarn and larger needles, your dog will be かなり bigger. We feel that finer yarns create a more 精製するd dog.

Knitting the 団体／死体 and 長，率いる
When 持つ／拘留するing stitches to use later on in the pattern ? for example, on the final 列／漕ぐ／騒動 of the 脚s ? work the last 列／漕ぐ／騒動 on a spare doublepointed needle. This means you can 選ぶ up and knit or purl the stitches from either end
of the needle.

After you have sewn up the 支援する of the dog, there may be a 穴を開ける at the nape of the neck. Work a couple of スイスの darning stitches to fill this 穴を開ける if need be.

Carefully follow the 指示／教授／教育s when 選ぶing up and knitting the first 列／漕ぐ／騒動 of the Neck and 長，率いる. The 権利 味方する of 団体／死体 is knitted first, then the Left 味方する of 団体／死体: the backbone of the dog is in the middle of this 列／漕ぐ／騒動. If the pieces are 選ぶd up incorrectly, the dog’s 長，率いる will be 直面するing に向かって its tail.

穴を開けるs can develop around the short 列／漕ぐ／騒動 形態／調整ing at the 最高の，を越す of the 長，率いる. When sewing on the ears, use the sewing-up end to patch up any 穴を開けるs. スイスの darning can also be used to cover up any untidy stitches.

Don’t worry if your dog’s neck is rather thickset; the collar is handy for giving the neck some 形態／調整. If need be, 減ずる the number of stitches on the collar.

Stuffing the Dog
Stuffing the dog is as important as the knitting. Depending on the 産む／飼育する, your dog will need either light, normal or dense stuffing. 言及する to the
photograph of the pointer for 指導／手引. Use a knitting needle point to 押し進める the stuffing into the paws and into the nose. Even after the dog is sewn up you can manipulate the stuffing with a knitting needle. If the stitches are distorted you have overstuffed your dog.
We recommend using 100 per cent polyester or kapok stuffing, which is
利用できる from （手先の）技術 shops and online retailers. A dog takes 20g-40g (?oz-1?oz) of stuffing, depending on size.

You can 追加する real character to your own knitted dog. In each pattern we have said where to place the ears, but we 示唆する pinning on the ears to find the perfect position before sewing. For 注目する，もくろむs, 実験 with both the size and the placing of the French knots until you are happy with your dog’s 表現. For example, for a doleful 表現 追加する a tiny stitch in white at the corner of the 注目する，もくろむ. The nose is worked in satin stitch, 普通は about four stitches that get a little smaller に向かって the 底（に届く） of the nose.

The dogs aren’t toys, so if you ーするつもりである to give them to small children do not use pipecleaners in the construction. Instead, you will need to 密集して stuff the 脚s to make the dog stand up.

SEWING IN ENDS Sew in ends, leaving ends
from cast on and cast (bound) off 列／漕ぐ／騒動s for
sewing up.
LEGS With WS together, 倍の 脚 in half.
Starting at paw, sew up 脚 on RS.
BODY Sew along 支援する of dog and around
底（に届く）.
HEAD 倍の cast (bound) off 列／漕ぐ／騒動 of 長，率いる in
half and sew from nose to chin.
TUMMY Sew cast on 列／漕ぐ／騒動 of tummy to
底（に届く） of dog’s 底（に届く） (where 支援する 脚s
begin), and sew cast (bound) off 列／漕ぐ／騒動 to chin.
緩和する and sew tummy to fit 団体／死体. Leave a
2.5cm (1in) gap between 前線 and 支援する 脚s
on one 味方する.
STUFFING Pipecleaners are used to 強化する
the 脚s and help bend them into 形態／調整.
倍の a pipecleaner into a ‘U’ 形態／調整 and手段 against 前線 two 脚s. 削減（する） to
だいたい fit, leaving an extra 2.5cm
(1in) at both ends. 倍の these ends over to
stop pipecleaner poking out of paws. Roll a
little stuffing around pipecleaner and slip
into 団体／死体, one end 負かす／撃墜する each 前線 脚.
Repeat with second pipecleaner and 支援する
脚s. Starting at the 長，率いる, stuff the dog
堅固に, then sew up the gap. Mould 団体／死体
into 形態／調整, bending the 前線 脚.
TAIL 削減（する） a pipecleaner 2.5cm (1in) longer
than tail. Roll a little stuffing around
pipecleaner, and slip in to tail. 押し進める
protruding pipecleaner end into dog where
支援する 会合，会うs 底（に届く） and sew tail on.
EARS Sew cast on 列／漕ぐ／騒動 of each ear to 味方する of
dog’s 長，率いる, に引き続いて natural slope of 長，率いる
and with 7 sts between ears. Catch ears
負かす／撃墜する with a stitch.
EYES With bl, sew 3-宙返り飛行 French knots
positioned as in photograph.
NOSE With bl, embroider nose in satin stitch.

Colour Knitting
There are two main techniques for working with more than one colour in the same 列／漕ぐ／騒動 of knitting ? the intarsia technique and the Fair 小島 technique. For some dogs, such as the Pointer, you use a combination of both m ethods, but here is a guide.

I-cord Technique
With 二塁打-pointed needles *knit a 列／漕ぐ／騒動. Slide the stitches to the other end of the needle. Do not turn the knitting. Repeat from *, pulling the yarn tight on the first stitch so that the knitting forms a tube.

包む and Turn Method (w&t)
Knit the number of stitches in the first short 列／漕ぐ／騒動. Slip the next stitch purlwise from the left-手渡す to the 権利-手渡す needle.

Bring the yarn 今後 then slip the stitch 支援する の上に the left-手渡す needle. Return the yarn to the 支援する.

On a purl 列／漕ぐ／騒動 use the same method, taking the yarn 支援する then 今後.?

Intarsia Technique
This method is used when knitting individual, large 封鎖するs of colour. It is best to use a small ball (or long length) for each area of colour, さもなければ the yarns will easily become 絡まるd.

When changing to a new colour, 新たな展開 the yarns on the wrong 味方する of the work to 妨げる 穴を開けるs forming.

When starting a new 列／漕ぐ／騒動, turn the knitting so that the yarns that are hanging from it untwist as much as possible.

If you have several colours you may occasionally have to reorganise the yarns at the 支援する of the knitting. Your work may look messy, but once the ends are all sewn in it will look 罰金.

Fair 小島 (or 立ち往生させるing) Technique
If there are no more than four stitches between colours you can use the? Fair 小島 technique.

Begin knitting with the first colour, then 減少（する） this when you introduce the second colour.

When you come to the first colour again, take it under the second colour to 新たな展開 the yarns.

When you come to the second colour again, take it over the first colour. The secret is not to pull the 立ち往生させるs on the wrong 味方する of the work too tightly or the work will pucker.
