Behind the 告示 last week that 12-year-old boys are to receive the HPV ワクチン接種 lies another important question: should older boys receive the jab, too??
From September, ワクチン接種 against the human papilloma ウイルス (HPV) is to be 延長するd to boys in Year 8, 老年の 12-13, (it has been part of the ワクチン接種 programme for girls since 2008).
The ウイルス is the 原因（となる） of 99.7 per cent of cervical 癌s and because it is sexually transmitted, vaccinating boys will help 保護する their partners.
減ずるing the 循環／発行部数 of the ウイルス, which is linked to one in 20 癌s, will also help 妨げる genital 癌s and some 癌s of the 長，率いる and neck, 同様に as genital warts. The ワクチン接種 is given to 12 and 13-year-olds because it is most 効果的な if 治めるd before 性の activity begins.

But should boys up to the age of 25 have it, too? Professor （警官の）巡回区域，受持ち区域 Kampmann, director of the ワクチン centre at the London School of Hygiene and 熱帯の 薬／医学, says older boys could 利益. ‘The ワクチン is most 効果的な before 取得／買収 of the HPV ウイルス, which is usually before people become sexually active,’ she says.
‘Older boys who are not sexually active would get the 利益s, given they would not have 遭遇（する）d HPV.

‘We will only know this for sure by doing 臨床の 熟考する／考慮するs, but there is no 害（を与える） in taking it at a later 行う／開催する／段階, and I would recommend it for boys older than 12 and up to age 25.’
For older boys, the jab is 利用できる only 個人として (at a cost of around £475).
Not 延長するing the ワクチン to older boys is a ‘行方不明になるd 適切な時期’, says Dr Olwen Williams, 大統領，／社長 of the British 協会 of 性の Health and HIV.
‘This will leave a not insignificant 割合 of the 全住民 at 現在進行中の 危険 of acquiring HPV,’ she says.?
