This is the rare moment a beautiful rainbow and violent 嵐／襲撃する cloud （機の）カム 長，率いる to 長，率いる creating a 素晴らしい scene high in the sky.

As the monster トルネード，竜巻 began to 支配する the skies over Colorado, USA, most people would have been locking their doors and windows.

But as the 脅し 減らすd one lucky group of 嵐／襲撃する chasers saw the rare sight of a rainbow and トルネード，竜巻 seemingly just a few miles apart.?

The magnificent moment was 逮捕（する）d by 献身的な Dutch 嵐／襲撃する chaser Peter Gude, 47, who couldn't believe his 注目する，もくろむs as he spotted the unusual scene.?

With the month of March ぼんやり現れるing, 部隊d 明言する／公表するs トルネード，竜巻 chasers are already watching the Southeast as a 汚い 嵐／襲撃する brews with the 可能性のある to spin off a （製品，工事材料の）一回分 of トルネード，竜巻s.

But if funnel clouds develop Thursday or Friday as some 予報官s believe, they won't be the first.

This トルネード，竜巻 season got an 早期に and deadly start in late January when two people were killed by separate twisters in Alabama.

予選 報告（する）／憶測s showed 95 トルネード，竜巻s struck last month, compared with 16 in January during a 特に 嵐の 2011.

The season usually starts in March and then ramps up for the next couple of months, but 予測（する）ing these 嵐／襲撃する seasons is even more imprecise than 予報するing ハリケーン seasons.

トルネード，竜巻s are too small and too short-lived for scientists to make seasonal 予測s.

They don't develop like blizzards and ハリケーンs, which are easier to 事業／計画（する）.

They pop in and pop out. The 嵐／襲撃するs that give them birth may last only a few hours. ハリケーンs and blizzards are 板材ing beasts that spend days moving across the 衛星 地図／計画するs.

When a ハリケーン approaches, coastlines get days 警告 to 避難させる.

With a トルネード，竜巻, if the 天候 service can let people know 20 minutes in 前進する, it's considered a victory.

'The Joplin (Missouri) トルネード，竜巻 (that killed 158 people last May) wasn't violent until just about the time it got to the hospital," said Harold Brooks, a 研究 scientist at the 国家の 大洋の and Atmospheric 行政's 国家の 厳しい 嵐／襲撃するs 研究室／実験室, in Norman, Oklahoma.

'Even when you're in the field, there are still times when you're surprised by the intensity of the event and how quickly it started.'

If a 予測（する） for a ハリケーン or blizzard is off by a mile, it's still bad 天候. But a mile difference means no 損失 in a トルネード，竜巻, Brooks said: 'It's so much finer in time and space on the トルネード，竜巻, it does make it a harder problem.'

It takes a piece of 破片 only a few seconds to 飛行機で行く around an entire トルネード，竜巻; it tak es hours to circle a ハリケーン. But トルネード，竜巻s, though smaller, can have stronger 勝利，勝つd.

Since 1950, there have been 58 トルネード，竜巻s in the U.S. with 勝利，勝つd 越えるing 200 mph; six last year alone. Only three ハリケーンs have made U.S. landfall with 勝利，勝つd more than 155 mph.
