The Ashes: Aussie class puts England in shade

by MIKE DICKSON, Daily Mail

As England 軍隊/機動隊d miserably into the sunset of this Ashes summer, trounced 4-1 by an 優れた Australian team, Nasser Hussain に例えるd it to Groundhog Day, the film in which poor old 法案 Murray 苦しむs the same 失望させるing experiences day after day after day.

To make 事柄s worse, the England captain 申し込む/申し出d little hope that the final reel is anywhere in sight.

There was searing realism in his 査定/評価 に引き続いて yesterday's 敗北・負かす at The Oval. He said: 'We 港/避難所't 進歩d at all from any other series I have been 伴う/関わるd in against Australia.

'It's a 事例/患者 of deja-vu. We go 3-0 負かす/撃墜する and then start playing some good cricket に向かって the end. This is a dent in our ambitions to (警官の)巡回区域,受持ち区域 Australia, we've just got to get into the series earlier.

'We have shown that there are other nations we can (警官の)巡回区域,受持ち区域 and we've got to go 支援する to our planning about how we're going to do that.'

In a summer when the home 味方する were dogged by aches, 苦痛s and breakages, Australia continue to 代表する one big repetitive 強調する/ストレス 傷害 for England.

関わりなく any physical 病気s, Hussain's men were outclassed in every area, and until winter next year they will return to the realm of the 実験(する) 選手権's 中央の-(米)棚上げする/(英)提議する 小競り合いs, which is probably where they belong.

This final match was peppered with examples of the difference between the 味方するs all through the series. The dropping of 示す Waugh on Friday morning encapsulated the 決定的な difference in catching, and yesterday we saw the last in a sequence of brilliant bowling 陳列する,発揮するs from Glenn McGrath and Shane 警告する.

They ended the series with 32 and 31 wickets それぞれ - England have nothing to compare with them, although there is no shame in that.

All through the series there have been 決定的な moments that have nearly always gone Australia's way. In this contest it was when England got within striking distance of 避けるing the follow-on and saving the match, which they failed to do by nine runs.

And then yesterday, in the 勇敢な 抵抗 of the tail, we caught another glimpse of the fact that England can put up a fight when moved to although, in line with everything before, it was too little, too late.

As Steve Waugh said: 'England have shown all along that they can play good cricket, but they've got to ask themselves why they lost most of the big moments. Perhaps it was too much 緊張, thinking too far ahead or not 存在 relaxed enough.'

Waugh 選び出す/独身d out Andrew Caddick as England's best and least fortunate bowler, but the search for crumbs of 慰安 leads mostly to the batting line-up.

The rehabilitation of 示す Butcher, highest aggregate run-scorer on either 味方する, and 示す Ramprakash are the most obvious 原因(となる)s for rejoicing.

いっそう少なく trumpeted has been the fact that, にもかかわらず hiatuses, Hussain has batted better than for 18 months and that Marcus Trescothick, 普通の/平均(する)ing 32 in the series, was certainly not 'sorted out' by the best attack on earth, as some had 予報するd.

Here, 再開するing on 40 for one, England needed a その上の 169 to 避ける another innings 敗北・負かす.

Cast the mind 支援する to March and all the 報告(する)/憶測s coming out of India were that 警告する was a 破産した/(警察が)手入れするd 紅潮/摘発する, 悪口を言う/悪態d by a love of cheese 挟むs and a loathing of 直面するing Sachin Tendulkar and company.

England's batsmen would beg to 異なる, and although his 出資/貢献 was not as 重要な here as his Friday evening burst at Trent 橋(渡しをする), the 質 was much the same.

In four overs he 連合させるd with McGrath to fillet England's 最高の,を越す order. Trescothick went to a rare snorter, and Afzaal played away from his 団体/死体. Butcher and Hussain were bamboozled as he 繰り返して 攻撃する,衝突する the rough.

Alec Stewart 行方不明になるd a big turner from 警告する and Andrew Caddick fell to Brett 物陰/風下, one Australian who never やめる lived up to his 法案ing on this 小旅行する.

Darren Gough was going to make the best of what will be his last 外見 in an England shirt until the one-dayers in India, for which he is 利用できる and will definitely be selected.

In Jimmy Ormond, England have happened upon a 約束ing and encouragingly cussed 交替/補充, and the pair 追加するd 58 before the roof finally fell in.

There was no comparison with the awful day two years ago, when New Zealand 完全にするd a 2-1 series victory. The 状況 is very different now - 簡単に because these Australians turned out to be as good as they were 割れ目d up to be.
