SPORTSMAIL INVESTIGATION: ICC 調査／捜査するing SIX 主張s of 汚職 at T10 競争 in Abu Dhabi... with unusual betting activity, batsmen （刑事）被告 of giving wickets away and some England 星／主役にするs have not been paid

The ICC are 調査／捜査するing up to six 主張s of 汚職 at a high-profile T10 競争 in Abu Dhabi which featured four of England’s Twenty20 World Cup 勝利者s.

Sportsmail can 明らかにする／漏らす the world 治める／統治するing 団体／死体’s anti-汚職 部隊 (ACU) received more than a dozen 主張s regarding corrupt activity at the two-week tournament, half of which have been みなすd serious enough to 誘発する／引き起こす formal 調査s.

Moeen Ali, Adil Rashid, Alex Hales and Dawid Malan flew straight from England’s T20 勝利 in Australia to 参加する the event, which was broadcast live on Sky Sports last month.

The ICC are 調査／捜査するing six 主張s of 汚職 at T10 競争 in Abu Dhabi which was won by Deccan Gladiators (there's no suggestion of 悪事を働くこと by their players)

They banked 料金s of up to £50,000 for playing just seven 10-over matches, while former white-ball captain Eoin Morgan also took part. There is no suggestion that any of the 主張s 伴う／関わる the England players.

The ICC 調査（する） is understood to 焦点（を合わせる） on the unusual level of betting activity, with around £15million 火刑／賭けるd using 交流s on a tournament where bookmakers were 高度に 明白な, and all the teams were sponsored by betting companies.

Sportsmail has learned that in the 規制するd markets, up to £800,000 was wagered on individual matches which attracted only a few hundred 支払う／賃金ing 観客s. It is an 異常に high 人物／姿／数字, almost certainly dwarfed by the activity in unregulated markets on the subcontinent, where 賭事ing is 違法な.

The ICC also received 報告（する）／憶測s of 疑わしい activity around the teams, 含むing franchise owners dictating bowling and batting orders in 前進する without considering the 条件s, 星／主役にする players 存在 dropped at short notice and 乱打するs giving their wickets away with inexplicable 発射s.

In one 事例／患者 the son of Darren Herft, owner of the Chennai 勇敢に立ち向かうs franchise, opened the batting と一緒に England batsman Dan Lawrence にもかかわらず never having played a first-class game.

Sp ortsmail can also 明らかにする／漏らす that some of the 16 England internationals who took part have yet to receive the final instalment of 競争 料金s that 範囲 from £10,000 to £50,000, four weeks after the tournament finished.

One owner tried to 終結させる the 契約 of an England international the day before he was scheduled to join up with his franchise, for unknown 推論する／理由s.

At least one Indian player had his 給料 paid by the league rather than his franchise. In another anomaly, it is understood that Sky Sports were given the live 権利s to broadcast the 競争 解放する／自由な of 告発（する），告訴（する）／料金, and took advantage by 審査 several games each day in the run-up to Christmas.

The ICC receive around 1,200 tip-offs from players regarding 怪しげな activity each year, which lead to between 30 and 40 調査s 毎年, so 開始する，打ち上げるing six 調査s on the 支援する of one two-week tournament is a 原因（となる） for 関心.

The 早い growth of short-form cricket, with lucrative T20 競争s taking place in Australia, South Africa, the UAE and Bangladesh this month alone, has led to 恐れるs of 増加するd 汚職.

A source told Sportsmail: ‘The ACU’s 役割 is to keep international cricket clean, which has been done very 首尾よく over the last few years, as there have been very few 主張s of 汚職, never mind 告発（する），告訴（する）／料金s or successful 起訴s. But the corruptors and fixers have not gone away and will look for other 適切な時期s, which will まず第一に／本来 be in franchise cricket.

‘They will 的 the lower-level players, 貧しく paid members of 支援する-room staff and the owners, in the hope that they will give them 接近 to players.

‘The 称する，呼ぶ／期間／用語 位置／汚点／見つけ出す-直す／買収する，八百長をするing is 広範囲にわたって used, but that’s a misnomer. No one is betting on individual moments. A more ありふれた bet is the number of runs 得点する／非難する／２０d in a powerplay or the first over of the game, for example, so the fixers 的 the 開始 bowlers.

‘Typically they would be asked to 譲歩する between 12 and 15 runs in the first over.

‘Alternatively, fixers 的 the 開始 乱打するs and ask for a slow start, after which they can get on with the game. This is how the 汚職 作品. No one is 直す／買収する，八百長をするing entire matches.

The ICC's anti-汚職 部隊 received more than dozen 主張s regarding corrupt activity? at the two-week tournament in Abu Dhabi?

‘The 誘導s 申し込む／申し出d to 直す／買収する，八百長をする 変化させる from around £3,000 for games in Europe, to between £10,000 and £30,000 in the UAE. There was more noise around Abu Dhabi than usual this year, but not all of it is やむを得ず 汚職. We had 報告（する）／憶測s of strange goings-on in some teams, owners 需要・要求するing that their son played, owners trying to 影響（力） the captain.

‘This looks bad and we tell the owners not to do it, but it’s not covered by the anti-汚職 code. The code covers betting on cricket, giving or a sking for inside （警察などへの）密告，告訴（状）, not 報告（する）／憶測ing 怪しげな activity and 成し遂げるing in a 確かな manner in return for 支払い（額）.’

The ACU’s 最初の／主要な 責任／義務 is to 監視する international cricket, so big franchise 競争s such as the IPL, the Big Bash and the Hundred police their own events, but smaller tournaments featuring more than four international players must 適用する to the ICC for a licence. To 伸び（る） ICC 是認, such 競争s need to 会合，会う strict 基準 regarding ground 基準s and 支払い（額）s, and they must have an anti-汚職 戦略, which leads to several 使用／適用s 存在 拒絶するd each year.

The ICC licence lasts for one year and can be 孤立した at any point, while all the owners are vetted.

A Canadian 競争 ― the 全世界の T20 ― took place in Ontario in 2018 and 2019, but has not been held since after the ICC 除去するd its licence.

An ICC spokesperson said they do not comment on 現在進行中の 調査s.

It is November and the 注目する，もくろむs of the world are on the Middle East and the biggest event in 全世界の sport. Football’s World Cup is taking place in Qatar.

A little under 200 miles away in the 砂漠, on the 郊外s of Abu Dhabi, another 全世界の event, now in its sixth season, takes place starring 世帯 cricketing 指名するs.

It sounds like a dream for a 地元の cricket lover. With three games a day ― each 継続している 90 minutes ― for just under a fortnight, the Abu Dhabi T10 looks like a festival of fun and the chance for fans to get a glimpse of their heroes.

In many ways that is 正確に／まさに what it is, but the tournament also has a darker 味方する...

The Abu Dhabi Cricket & Sports 中心 is a 冒険的な 港／避難所. With football, tennis, cricket and padel 施設s 利用できる to the public, it is brimming with activity as the evenings get cooler in the Middle East. But the cricket is hardly pulling them in.

Inside the 20,000-capacity stadium are （人が）群がるs of a few hundred at most. For the earlier games, there are more staff than 観客s and even though tickets are 概略で £3, it is left to organisers to bring in labourers from the nearby 産業の area of Musaffah after they finish work to fill up the seats and create some atmosphere for the television ニュース報道 beamed around the world.

The 労働者s are herded together and brought in by dozens of coaches as the evening rolls on. Speaking to them, many 明らかにする／漏らす they are 申し込む／申し出d 解放する／自由な meals in return for their time at the cricket.

But these 観客s are not the ones who raise my eyebrows. Scattered across the stands are men, predominantly from Asia, using 多重の phones, earphones plugged in, relaying every bit of the 活動／戦闘 負かす／撃墜する the line. I 会合，会う men from Bangalore, Mumbai, Delhi and Dhaka, and while some are too busy or 簡単に unwilling to speak, a few speak up, bragging about how 平易な it is to make money.

One man gets angry because I am ‘asking too many questions’, but I still see him at every match, at the 最高の，を越す of the stands, trying to keep out of 見解（をとる）.

This is their 職業, 存在 sent around the globe by people 支援する in India. Just like players on the freelance white-ball franchise 回路・連盟, they travel thousands of miles 確実にするing they get their slice of the pie.

Some of these men are ‘pitch-味方するing’, where live events are communicated to someone who can 影響（力） the betting market in real time before the TV ニュース報道 catches up. But others are there to 確実にする orders are followed. いつかs these people know which players are 存在 controlled and they know the script. They are looking out for pre-arranged 調印するs ― such as a batsman 除去するing his helmet or a glove ― to signal that the 直す／買収する，八百長をする is on.

In 非常に／多数の off-the-記録，記録的な／記録する conversations, I hear about players 存在 approached in hotels and 妨げる／法廷，弁護士業s.

I see the same 直面するs from the stands ― the men with their 多重の phones ― sitting in the ロビーs of the players’ hotels, at the swimming pool and loitering around the 妨げる／法廷，弁護士業s in the evening. They know 正確に／まさに which teams are staying where.

I speak with players, coaches and others 伴う／関わるd with franchises, and many 収容する／認める to having their 疑惑s about the tournament they are 伴う／関わるd in. ‘It’s a circus and we’re all dancing monkeys,’ as one player puts it.

But all are 用心深い at the 関わりあい／含蓄s of raising their 関心s 公式に, 予定 to either the loss of 未来 適切な時期s or 可能性のある 脅しs. いつかs both. It is not difficult to 会合，会う players or even find out their room numbers. Some players speak to me about people approaching them in hotels and 存在 sent strange messages on social マスコミ. Others are 確かな that their team-mates are 伴う／関わるd in 怪しげな activity but 収容する／認める that it would be too risky to 告発する／非難する anyone without 証拠.

Remember, we are talking about 契約s which can be 価値（がある） £50,000 for a couple of weeks’ work in the winter sun, with all expenses paid at a five-星／主役にする hotel. And cricketers have a 比較して short career.

This is cricket without consequence. It is a 決まりきった仕事 of ゴルフ, cricket, sleep, repeat.

For the younger players, it is more alluring than a winter of indoor 逮捕するs. It is the easiest money many of them will ever make. So the silence about 汚職 is no surprise.

But the stories are endless: players 存在 paid in cash and having to hide it in their pads when they bring it 支援する to their countries. Others still chasing 支払い（額）s from years gone by.

As the tournament ends, one of the gentlemen I 会合，会う in the stands tells me he is 飛行機で行くing to Sri Lanka, where the Lanka 首相 League takes place, but that he will be 支援する in the UAE on January 13.

Next week, a new month-long T20 franchise 競争 begins in the Middle East with a healthy English 次第で変わる／派遣部隊 含むing former 実験（する） captain Joe Root. This year, T10 will 拡大する to five 場所s around the globe, taking place in Sri Lanka and Zimbabwe, with 計画（する）s for Europe and America.

In the words of one source: ‘Abu Dhabi T10 is 現実に a pretty 井戸／弁護士席-run tournament compared to others.’ Just this week, the organisers of the Nepal T20 league fled the country.

These tournaments 供給する （危険などに）さらす and experience for players across the game. They grow the sport globally ― but at what cost?
