Tim Ambrose knew that there was a lot at 火刑/賭ける when he strode to the wicket for only his third 実験(する) innings today.

運動ing 軍隊: Tim Ambrose 救助(する)d England's innings with an imperious 97 not out

Make no mistake, England were in desperate trouble when Ambrose entered the fray with his 味方する at 136 for five on the first day of this second 実験(する).

A series 敗北・負かす here would be even more 壊滅的な than an Ashes whitewash because England are up against a team they should be 大打撃を与えるing.

Cometh the hour cometh a diminutive 25-year-old Australian who turned up at Sussex eight years ago looking to see the world, got no その上の than Eastbourne and has now 設立する himself 救助(する)ing England from その上の 当惑 at the 手渡すs of New Zealand.

He will do for us. Beggars 明確に cannot be choosers.

It is too 早期に yet to あられ/賞賛する Ambrose, surely the smallest man in living memory to play for England at 5ft 6 1/2in, as the new Alec Stewart but he is a 本物の keeper with very natural 手渡すs.

The question was whether, with only four first-class hundreds to his 指名する, he could 得点する/非難する/20 実験(する) hundreds, as today's keepers have to do, and his answer was to finish the first day at the 水盤/入り江 Reserve unbeaten three runs short of a maiden century in the toughest of circumstances.

It should be remembered that Matt 事前の, the last 犠牲者 of the never-ending search for keeper-batsman perfection, 攻撃する,衝突する a century on debut last summer and looked 始める,決める to be the "new Stewart" himself, or even the new Adam Gilchrist によれば some.

Supporting 行為/法令/行動する: Paul Collingwood stayed with Ambrose until the の近くに

Yet 事前の's hundred was against a West Indies 味方する at Lord's who were already flagging. Ambrose, who 取って代わるd his old friend 事前の because of the latter's keeping frailties in Sri Lanka, 繁栄するd here on a seaming wicket after England had thrown away the good start Michael Vaughan and Alastair Cook had given them once New Zealand had won the 投げ上げる/ボディチェックする and 抑えるのをやめるd four seamers.

When Vaughan, Cook, Andrew Strauss, Ian Bell and Kevin Pietersen all 死なせる/死ぬd in the middle 開会/開廷/会期 during a (一定の)期間 where England lost five wickets for 57 runs the 圧力 was visibly growing but Ambrose's 返答 was to take the attack to New Zealand as no England batsman has done so far in this series.

He arrived on this 小旅行する on the 支援する of a prolific season with Warwickshire and is 明確に a 井戸/弁護士席-organised batsman who likes to 削減(する) and pull, as is the wont of smaller men.

What he showed here, however, was that the work he has put in with England batting coach Andy Flower on hitting the ball 負かす/撃墜する the ground had paid (株主への)配当s, with a large 百分率 of his 15 fours coming through 運動s.

This was how England need to play Chris ツバメ and Kyle Mills. 井戸/弁護士席 as they have bowled so far in this series, they are never going to be world-beaters and England perhaps were 有罪の of 扱う/治療するing them with too much 尊敬(する)・点 in their go-slow first innings at Hamilton.

Cook

Solid start: But Alastair Cook was part of the middle 開会/開廷/会期 崩壊(する)

Ambrose, who qualifies for England through his English mother, 確実にするd that the same mistake would not be made again.

He 設立する in Paul Collingwood the perfect 同盟(する) for his 救助(する) 行為/法令/行動する as the pair put on an 無傷の sixth wicket stand of 155, 135 of them coming in the final 開会/開廷/会期 as Ambrose raced to 97 off 137 balls, 追加するing pulled sixes off ツバメ and Mills to his 境界 count and shrugging off a blow to the 長,率いる and one to the 団体/死体 on the way.

It left England at 291 for five at the の近くに with much still to do but in a position where they would hope to be able to start dictating 条件.

"We were under 圧力 when Tim (機の)カム in and he did a lot to 是正する the balance," said England coach Peter Moores.

"Matt 事前の did a lot of things 権利 but we 手配中の,お尋ね者 a better balance between bat and the keeping and Tim's got an 適切な時期 now to show that he's the 権利 man.

Vaughan

The long walk: Michael Vaughan 反映するs on his 解雇/(訴訟の)却下

"He's 設立する a nice 速度 straight away with both gloves and bat and this is a good 行う/開催する/段階 for him. He's gone through やめる a 旅行 as a player and now he can show, in his 中央の-twenties, what he can do at this level. This is a good start for him."

Ambrose, who made a half century and a duck on debut in Hamilton, raced to 97 with a pulled six off Mills followed by a pulled three and then had the whole final over from Jacob Oram, easily New Zealand's best bowler on an old fashioned seaming wicket, to be able to reach three 人物/姿/数字s and sleep a little easier.

What followed was a fantastic maiden from Oram, who (警官の)巡回区域,受持ち区域 the bat four times and gave Ambrose only one ball which he may have been able to 削減(する). He 行方不明になるd it, gave a little wry smile and 用意が出来ている for the morning.

Ambrose seems an agreeable character, an 専門家 guitarist and, that rarity these days, a sportsman who smokes.

Moores was 確信して he would not be feeling nervous 夜通し. England needed him to kick on on the second day for the sake of everyone's 神経s.
