Beckenbauer's career in numbers

The German legend began his storied career at Bayern Munich in 1964 and played there for 13 years until 1977.

He went on to play for New York Cosmos before returning to Germany in 1980, becoming a Hamburg player. Beckenbauer finally 再結合させるd Cosmos in 1983, where he retired.

His final years

Lothar Matthaus: 'The shock is 深い'

Adidas: 'Beckenbauer, a football poet'

Franz Beckenbauer became synonymous with adidas during the 1980s after 是認するing the brand, which has gone on to 調印する football icons such as Lionel Messi, Paul Pogba and German 同国人 Toni Kroos.

What made Beckenbauer so special?

Franz Beckenbauer was a much-loved player both on and off the football pitch.

He is the only man in history to have captained and managed his country to World Cup glory, winning it as a player in 1974 and as a 経営者/支配人 in 1990.

Beckenbauer also featured in the famous 1966 World Cup final, 辛うじて losing to England with West Germany.

The versatile defender also 解除するd the Ballon d'Or twice in 1972 and 1976.
