DANNY MURPHY: Ederson is the bedrock of Manchester City's rhythm and 速度, the Brazilian is the BEST ball-playing goalkeeper ever - but it'd be healthy if 兵器庫 勝利,勝つ the 肩書を与える this season and end the 現在の monopoly

  • The Man City goalkeeper showed on Saturday why he is Pep Guardiola's No 1
  • The Brazilian can play it simple and also 遂行する/発効させる the longer Hollywood passes?
  • It's that time of the season! Who are the 最高の,を越す five players of the season? Listen to the It's All Kicking Off! podcast

We can eulogise about Erling Haaland’s four goals and Footballer of the Year Phil Foden but don’t underestimate the importance of Ederson.

We saw on Saturday why Pep Guardiola sticks with the Brazilian as his No 1. It’s not only 予定 to the 伝統的な 面s of goalkeeping but also because of his feet. He has better 見通し and 配当 than some of the midfielders I played with.

The best example was the pass through the lines to Foden to help create City’s fourth goal. It was something many 外野 players wouldn’t be 有能な of.

Ederson’s 決定/判定勝ち(する)-making is the bedrock of City’s rhythm and 速度. When 対抗者s are 用心深い and 減少(する) off, Ederson keeps the passing carousel going by knocking the ball simple. If his defenders are under 圧力, he has both the 認識/意識性 and tech nical ability to 遂行する/発効させる the longer Hollywood passes.

There has never been a better ball-playing goalkeeper. His 出資/貢献 to City’s success should be recognised.

NEUTRALS SHOULD BE IN ARSENAL’S CORNER

I’ve nothing against City but it’d be healthy for 兵器庫 勝利,勝つ the 肩書を与える this season and end the 現在の monopoly.

Hats off to City if they become the first club in history to stay 支持する/優勝者s four years in a 列/漕ぐ/騒動. My 関心 is where does it stop. Six, seven years? Nine like 特別奇襲隊員s and Celtic have done in Scotland? 11 like Bayern in Germany?

Winning 産む/飼育するs winning and if City finish 最高の,を越す にもかかわらず 行方不明の Haaland and Kevin De Bruyne for long periods, that’s a problem.

兵器庫 have a fresh 経営者/支配人 in Mikel Arteta with a good philosophy and solid defence. 中立のs should be やじ for them to breathe new life into the 競争.

式のs I 恐れる both teams will 勝利,勝つ their remaining games leaving City 支持する/優勝者s by a couple of points. The only 脅し to City is the trip to 刺激(する)s. Tottenham have the attacking 能力s to worry them but will have to play 意味ありげに better than 最近の 業績/成果s. Ironic that 兵器庫’s best chance lies with their bitter 競争相手s.

PENALTY DECISIONS DESPAIR

Both 兵器庫 and City got lucky with big 刑罰,罰則 決定/判定勝ち(する)s and it’s demoralising.

At lunchtime, Kai Havertz left his 脚 in to 招待する 接触する and got the 決定/判定勝ち(する) for 兵器庫’s first goal. I don’t 非難する him, 特に because everyone does it these days.

There was a period when the 当局 tried to stop this form of cheating. パネル盤s were 始める,決める up to punish players who did it ― I know because I sat on a few.

The only way you’re going to stop players kidding 公式の/役人s is to have some 肉親,親類d of deterre nt. さもなければ Havertz won’t be the only one to take advantage.

City then got fortunate themselves. There was a coming together between Josko Gvardiol and Rayan Ait-Nouri as the Wolves defender (疑いを)晴らすd the ball, nothing beyond that.

If the 審判(をする) wrongly awards a 刑罰,罰則, which is possible when he’s got one look at it in real time, it is up to VAR to step in and 示唆する he checks the 監視する to make sure he’s not made a (疑いを)晴らす and obvious error.

Not for the first time, yesterday’s VAR at The Etihad, Stuart Attwell, showed a 欠如(する) of understanding of football. He should have told the 審判(をする) to check if he 手配中の,お尋ね者 to alter his 刑罰,罰則 award.

It’s not 複雑にするd and staggers me 公式の/役人s don’t have that feel for the game.
