Twelve years after Dave Jones was (刑事)被告 of child 乱用, his wife movingly 明らかにする/漏らすs the torment of... living with dirty lies
Ann Jones does not shun 注目する,もくろむ 接触する as she lowers her 発言する/表明する わずかに and explains how she felt when she learnt that her husband, former Southampton, Wolves and Cardiff 経営者/支配人 Dave, had been (刑事)被告 of 21 counts of physical and 性の 乱用 of children.
More than 12 years have passed since this wife, mother of four and now grandmother 設立する her family (海,煙などが)飲み込むd by 主張s so hideous she still finds the words difficult to form. Even now, the 苦痛 is frighteningly raw.
‘I know when people are (刑事)被告 of something like that they say they feel dirty,’ she says. ‘井戸/弁護士席, I felt just as dirty.’

Team 社債ing: Ann with Dave years after the 告訴,告発s
Her 権利 手渡す moves to her left arm and without knowing it she softly 小衝突s away an imaginary stain.
‘Even though you know he’s innocent, and your family do and your friends do, you still feel 有罪の, because of the thing he’s been (刑事)被告 of.
‘Even if one person in the whole world feels you’re 有罪の and everyone else knows you’re innocent, that one person is one person too many, isn’t it?
‘I would rather it had been me (刑事)被告. You feel like you want to take it off the person you love.’

Family first: Dave and Ann with granddaughter Maddison
She looks 簡潔に at Dave, sitting next to her with his arm behind her on the 支援する of a sofa in a London hotel. Her 発言する/表明する rises and changes トン, her Scouse accent 反映するing the 怒り/怒る and disgust she feels as she spits out words like ‘shout’, ‘叫び声をあげる’ and ‘sick’.
‘I just 手配中の,お尋ね者 to go and shout and 叫び声をあげる at somebody,’ she says. ‘I 扱うd it in a different way. I was more demonstrative about it, but I did feel so angry.

Life abroad: Ann in Hong Kong with daughter Danielle
‘They just said “乱用” in the first interview. They never even について言及するd 性の 乱用. Even though that’s still terrible, it wasn’t as bad.
‘As soon as you について言及する 性の 乱用 everything changes. Then there was more 性の 乱用. Then it was even worse.’
Ann takes a 深い breath before continuing.
‘I had just got to the shopping centre and Dave called and said there had been three more 告訴,告発s.

Dark days: Jones was 経営者/支配人 of Southampton when the 告訴,告発s were made
‘That was the day they first said “buggery”.’
Suddenly her 発言する/表明する 減少(する)s again. This is the most 負担d and unspeakable word of all ― yet this 弾丸 first 攻撃する,衝突する Ann when she was alone, in the middle of a shopping centre, surrounded by people going about their everyday 商売/仕事.
‘I just thought I was going to pass out,’ she said. ‘I just felt so sick.’
Dave, then a 首相 League 経営者/支配人 with Southampton, was 逮捕(する)d in June 1999. He was subsequently (刑事)被告 of 乱用ing four children while working at a special school in Merseyside, Clarence House in Formby, in the late 1980s.

Not impressed: Ann (刑事)被告 former Southampton chairman Rupert Lowe of '殺人,大当り her husband' when he put Jones on gardening leave
After an ordeal 継続している nearly 18 months he was acquitted in November 2000 with the 裁判官 主張するing that ‘no wrong-doing どれでも has been 設立するd’.
The 介入するing period could easily have destroyed Dave and Ann’s marriage and the lives of their children, Lea, now 36, Danielle, 29, Chloe, 26, and Georgia, 16.
Dave leans 今後 and with indignation in his 発言する/表明する says: ‘I always remember 説 to the police, 権利 at the very beginning, “Excuse me, but I’ve got children”.
<
font style="font-size: 1.2em;">‘And they 現実に said to me, “Yeah, but we’ve just put a guy away who’s got a couple of children. We’ve just put a former 同僚 of yours who had children away for 14 years”. That’s what he said.’

支援する where he belongs: Jones 設立する 救済 in the dug-out
This was not the life of a footballer’s wife Ann had 想像するd when she got married. She met Dave 老年の 14 and followed his playing career at Everton, Coventry City and in Hong Kong. Now her story is about fighting to 保護する her own.
‘How do you tell your children their dad’s been 逮捕(する)d?’ she asks, her 発言する/表明する 紅潮/摘発するd with 怒り/怒る. ‘Lea 設立する out when it (機の)カム up on the television where he was working??? .
‘I went and 選ぶd Chloe up from school and Danielle was working in a nursery at the time, training to be a nursery nurse.
‘Chloe wouldn’t have really understood what 性の 乱用 was. It wasn’t in the マスコミ like it is now. She was about 14, but she wouldn’t really have しっかり掴むd what it meant.
‘But it 攻撃する,衝突する her the hardest. She still 苦しむs. She still says things now, or she’ll burst into 涙/ほころびs.

Happier days: Jones got 支援する into 管理/経営 with Wolves and lead them to the 首相 League 経由で the play-offs in 2003
‘Georgia was only four. But it was amazing to us that her friends’ parents still let their children come and play, やめる happily. We didn’t know these parents, really. If it was the other way 一連の会議、交渉/完成する, would I have let my children do that?’
Ann (刑事)被告 Southampton chairman Rupert Lowe of ‘殺人,大当り her husband’ when he sat in her living room and put Dave on gardening leave in January 2000. Dave 述べるs that moment as ‘a real kick in the teeth’. Ann says she wishes she had thrown the tray of tea she was carrying all over Lowe.
But Dave got 支援する into football as soon as the 裁判,公判 was over, first with Wolves, where he won 昇進/宣伝 to the 首相 League, and then with Cardiff City, whom he guided to the FA Cup final.
Football was his 救済 and he is desperate to return to 管理/経営 again.
Ann, though, did not have the same 網状組織 of coaching 同僚s, players and fellow 経営者/支配人s. Her feisty moments are nothing compared to the aching, 無視/無効ing feeling of 孤立/分離 she 述べるs during our two-hour conversation.
She remembers 運動ing two miles to use a telephone box to call her family in Liverpool because she was 納得させるd the home phone in Hampshire was tapped.
She 会談 about the horror of social services visiting her home to interview her children about their father.

支援する at the 最高の,を越す: Jones lead Cardiff City to the FA Cup final, where they lost to Portsmouth
There is a painful sense of powerlessness, too ― of feeling abandoned by a judicial system she did not understand, with lurid 告訴,告発s coming 厚い and 急速な/放蕩な at her family but no 証拠 to support them.
Ann worked at Clarence House 同様に, passing Dave as she started her night 転換 as he returned home after working during the day. It was Ann who first pointed out the 宣伝 in the 地元の newspaper as Dave looked for a 職業 while he earned his coaching badges. She knew better than anybody that ‘he didn’t do sleepovers’.
‘But I did feel 孤立するd,’ she said. ‘In the 支援する of your mind, you’re always still thinking the worst.
‘I thought, “If I was sitting in that courtroom, would I automatically think he was 有罪の? Why was he working at a care home when he was a footballer?”

So 近づく, yet so far: Jones and Cardiff 辛うじて lost the FA Cup final
‘I was trying to put myself in their position. Christ, if I read in the paper someone had 21 counts against them, straight away I’d think they were 有罪の.’
Ann was even 否定するd the final moment of 救済, when Dave’s 事例/患者 崩壊(する)d after just four days. She was not 許すd in 法廷,裁判所 because she was 予定 to b e called as a 証言,証人/目撃する later in the 裁判,公判.
‘I just walked around Liverpool city centre in a daze,’ she said. ‘It was dancing 負かす/撃墜する with rain and snow at the same time.
‘I just remember walking 一連の会議、交渉/完成する and 一連の会議、交渉/完成する with my umbrella ― going in shops, taking my umbrella 負かす/撃墜する, walking 一連の会議、交渉/完成する and then putting my umbrella 支援する up, terrified of going 支援する to the 法廷,裁判所. It was that awful dread of waiting.
‘I remember grabbing one of my sisters and asking, “What do the 陪審/陪審員団 look like?” I needed to know.

行方不明の out again: Jones guided Cardiff to the 選手権 play-off final only to lose out to Ian Holloway's Blackpool
‘I thought, “Do they look a bit rough? Do they know how this all 作品? Are they listening?”
‘I did that every day. It was horrendous, not knowing what was going on.’
Dave is still angry, too ― at a system he believes casts men like him as ‘有罪の until proven innocent’ and at a judicial system he says let 負かす/撃墜する his family.
But when he 会談 about ‘the 事例/患者’, as he calls it, he is more detached than his wife. He 収容する/認めるs it didn’t ‘feel real’ and he discusses it like the 部外者 looking in.

One last 押し進める: Jones brought big 指名するs to Cardiff, such as Craig Bellamy, but failed to 勝利,勝つ 昇進/宣伝

End of the road: Jones left Cardiff in the summer after failing to lead them to the 首相 League
This means his autobiography, No Smoke, No 解雇する/砲火/射撃, 述べるs every last 詳細(に述べる) of his ordeal. It is a powerful read, even more so because Dave’s story is interspersed with Ann’s 見解/翻訳/版 of events.
The humour and sarcasm Dave 収容する/認めるs did him few favours in police interviews come to the fore as he 述べるs basic 詳細(に述べる)s the police never even bothered to check. One 出来事/事件 was 申し立てられた/疑わしい to have happened in a red Astra, 恐らく owned by Dave.
‘I’m an Evertonian. I wouldn’t be seen dead in a red car,’ is the 即座の 返答.
‘How do you 対処する? Because you have to,’ he says. ‘Was I just going to 嘘(をつく) 負かす/撃墜する and let them (警官の)巡回区域,受持ち区域 me up? No.’
Ann interrupts. ‘I can understand a lot of people not 対処するing,’ she says, softly.
‘I can’t,’ says Dave. ‘That’s where we 異なる.’
‘But you’re a coper,’ she 反対するs. ‘A lot of people aren’t. You don’t let anything (警官の)巡回区域,受持ち区域 you. You see not 対処するing as a 証拠不十分.’

Family time: Jones spends time with wife Ann while he looks to get 支援する into football
He nods. ‘I wrapped myself up in football,’ he 収容する/認めるs. ‘Only when I did the 調書をとる/予約する did I realise what Ann was going through every day. What the children were going through every day.’
He turns to Ann. ‘But I remember re-telling part of the story and I started laughing. And you went mad at me. You tried to throw something at me in the living room.’
She looks as if she is about to 解散させる into 涙/ほころびs.
‘It was still やめる raw for me,’ she says. ‘Little things like that still make me want to cry. Even now.’?
