England Under 17's World Cup 勝利 wasn't 負かす/撃墜する to sweat and hustle, the Young Lions stunned the world with beauty and flair in India

  • England Under 17s are still on a high from their incredible World Cup victory?
  • It wasn't a 事例/患者 of sweat and hustle, but beauty and flair which won the cup?
  • England 登録(する)d one 発射 every three-and-a-half minutes in the final?

It wasn't just the fact that England won another age-group World Cup that 解除するd the heart and the spirits this 週末, but rather the way that they did it.

What beautiful, intelligent and joined-up football Steve Cooper’s young team played in India.

To (警官の)巡回区域,受持ち区域 Spain ― the Under 17 支持する/優勝者s of Europe ― was one thing. To do so by 得点する/非難する/20ing five goals and playing the 肉親,親類d of football men’s 上級の coach Gareth Southgate can only dream of was やめる another.

England Under 17s will hope for further success at next year's European Championship

England Under 17s are still on a high from their incredible World Cup final victory

If you didn’t get to see this game on Saturday afternoon then you must find a way to watch it. And don’t just watch the goals. Watch all of it, as it will be one of the most encouraging and uplifting football matches you will see all season.

Here, seemingly, was proof that all is not lost for English football, proof that all our talent has not been left in the 山のふもとの丘s of a 首相 League mountain where 大陸の is king.

Our 学院s are working, it would appear, for this was not football from the 伝統的な English school. This was not a victory carved out of physicality, sweat and hustle. No, this was a 勝利 built on the 支援する of 最高の technique, cleverness, courage and an understanding of how to pass the ball.

Spain were swept aside by England, who were the better team from the very first minute to the last. Somehow, Spain managed to take a 2-0 lead but that served only to make a game of it.

They were no match for England’s football, and who ever really thought we would say that?

England played the whole game with purpose, vision and a thrilling brand of football

Of course, this result doesn’t 保証(人) these boys anything. Not even 巨大な talents like Manchester City midfielder Phil Foden, who stamped his personality and ability all over this game with some of the best football seen for many years by somebody in the white of England.

Indeed, this result asks some uncomfortable questions of our game.

If the England 上級の team are not playing football like this in 10 years’ time ― and if players like Foden and young Fulham 十分な 支援する Steven Sessegnon are not playing in it ― then something is very 本気で wrong with our structure and our pathways.

But that is perhaps a 審議 for another time. When victories like this come along then it is better to savour them than to start looking for problems that may 嘘(をつく) in wait その上の 負かす/撃墜する the 跡をつける.

England had lost to this Spain team (on 刑罰,罰則s) when they met in the final of the Euros in May. So there was some history here, extra incentive if any w ere really needed.

And what was so alluring was the way that England started the game. It was 25 degrees in the stadium and the 湿度 was a cloying 70 per cent, so this was never going to be a night for chasing the 対立 around. On the whole, that onerous 仕事 fell to the Spanish.

England 現実に could have 得点する/非難する/20d in the very first minute. A one-two between Morgan Gibbs-White and Rhian Brewster resulted in a 発射 from the Wolves midfield player that the Spanish goalkeeper had to save. So there, from the 手始め, was a (疑いを)晴らす message of 意図 from England. This is the 肉親,親類d of football they ーするつもりであるd to play.?

Despite going two goals down the Young Lions stuck to their plan and overpowered Spain

にもかかわらず going two goals 負かす/撃墜する the Young Lions stuck to their 計画(する) and overpowered Spain

When Cooper’s boys had the ball they used it beautifully, creating angles and using the 十分な width of the field. There was energy, 見通し and 最高の 信用/信任. There were no long kicks upfield or aimless balls into the channels. Nothing was done without a 推論する/理由.

And when Spain had 所有/入手, England 適用するd the 肉親,親類d of high-速度 圧力(をかける) of which Barcelona would have been プロの/賛成の ud. Spain’s two goals (機の)カム out of nowhere. England were bossing the game when Sergio Gomez 得点する/非難する/20d in the 10th minute and were still in 告発(する),告訴(する)/料金 when he 得点する/非難する/20d again with a ライフル銃/探して盗む-割れ目 発射 21 minutes later.

At that 行う/開催する/段階 it looked as though it might be one of those nights when an 対抗者’s greater street smarts would 証明する too much. Just over half an hour gone and Spain looked a shade more 臨床の.

But even had England lost, there would have been 抱擁する 長所 in their 返答. Two goals behind, their style of play never changed and when Liverpool’s Brewster 長,率いるd in a cross just before half-time, the game was reset on a course from which it never 脅すd to deviate.

England’s equaliser (機の)カム from Gibbs-White before two goals from Foden 挟むd a first international strike from Chelsea central defender Marc Guehi.

The Spaniards simply couldn't deal with Steve Cooper's side out in Kolkata

Of course, a 4-2 scoreline would have had a nice (犯罪の)一味 to it ― think 1966 and all that ― but in truth the final three-goal 利ざや was more reflective of England’s dominance.

Foden was a marvel to watch all by himself. Such balance and dexterity are rare gifts and we can only hope Pep Guardiola can find a way to 融通する him in his City squad in coming seasons.

So England have won two World Cups in one calendar year. This one finished with them 登録(する)ing 25 発射s in the final ― one every three and a half minutes.

Forget the トロフィー for a moment. That statistic is 尊敬の印 enough all by itself.
