IAN LADYMAN: Mason 開始する and Fikayo Tomori have been part of what has made Chelsea so watchable this season... so when will we start 信用ing young English footballers?

One of the things that makes Frank Lampard's Chelsea 統治する so 控訴，上告ing is just how ordinary he has made it feel.

Instead, 開始する has started 22 of Chelsea's 首相 League games while Tomori has started 14. Both have been 根底となる to a 進歩／革新的な Chelsea season and both have ― as a result ― played for England. They have been part of what has made Chelsea so watchable over the past six months. In short, they have been good enough.

So to hear Lampard 示唆する neither would have been at the club had he been given the 選択 of 調印 players jarred a little.

The 審議 about pathways for young English talent is an old one. My 見解（をとる） has always been that homegrown youngsters are not やむを得ず deserving of special 治療. If they are good enough, they will find a way to get through. If they are not, they won't.

But maybe the argument needs to be more nuanced.

Maybe we have spent so long 推定するing that our 国内の talent can be bettered by abler, more technically gifted players from overseas that we have come to see it as our default setting. If so, that needs to change and from that point of 見解（をとる）, players such as 開始する and Tomori may 証明する to be trailblazers. They may need to be.

I 解任する an interview I did with another former Chelsea midfielder, Scott Parker, two seasons ago when the 現在の Fulham 経営者／支配人 was coaching young players at Tottenham.

'They are miles ahead of where we were,' he said. 'They are technically superb.'

Parker's message that day was （疑いを）晴らす: the 学院s are working. And it is something that would appear to be borne out when we look at the 質 that Gareth Southgate now has at his 処分 at international level.

England's European 選手権 hopes may yet be undone at centre half or because Southgate does not have a world-class goalkeeper, but he will not be short of players who can get their 長，率いる up and use the ball.

So when will English football change its mindset?

The conundrum is obvious and as such it will always be harder for our own young players. The 首相 League 供給するs such a 豊富な, glamorous 壇・綱領・公約 for footballers these days that a club like Chelsea will always have a stream of スパイ／執行官s and parents keen to bring talent to their door from across Europe and beyond. What it needs, if 傾向s are to change, is a leap of 約束.

At Chelsea, they have had to take one and it is hard to argue they are not already the better for it. Lampard has brought some clarity to life at Stamford 橋（渡しをする）.

It would be a shame if it all got a bit muddled again when the 移転 window opens this summer.

It was 報告（する）／憶測d by the Sunday Times that Raheem 英貨の／純銀の is keen to create a 首相 League taskforce to 戦闘 人種差別主義. It is an admirable idea from a 井戸／弁護士席-意向d sportsman but two contrasting images from this season spring to mind.

The first was of 英貨の／純銀の talking eloquently about the 支配する ahead of England's Euro 2020 qualifier in Prague last October. It was powerful stuff.

The second was how 猛烈に muddled and unconvincing his message had been a fortnight earlier when his Manchester City 同僚 Bernardo Silva was 告発（する），告訴（する）／料金d by the FA for 地位，任命するing an 恐らく 人種差別主義者 tweet about team-mate Benjamin Mendy.

And this is the problem with making a stand. Consistency is 重要な. It is no good trying to change things if you are going to 転換 uncomfortably in your shoes when the problem lands closer to home.
