As Alan Hudson rolls 支援する the １０年間s to his halcyon years as the most gifted English midfield player of his 世代, he toys with the medallion around his neck.

'We were （刑事）被告 of 存在 undisciplined but all the talk of dedication in today’s football sounds like a myth to me.

‘Lads at 兵器庫 like Paul Merson and Ray Parlour told me they had behaved the s ame as us. That was a 広大な／多数の／重要な team - but they did it on booze.

‘The replay was in the same stadium 48 hours later. As we ran out I saw Pirri had a new plaster cast on his arm. I said to Charlie look at that No 4. Something like that always plays on the mind. It just might give us a small 辛勝する／優位 if he’s a bit distracted.

‘Charlie licked his lips and 敏速に did to them on the wing what Amancio had done to us on the Wednesday. And I took over in midfield. I didn’t know to what extent until I got home and my father told me I’d had a very good game.?

'But when you do play your best you can walk into any pub and be proud of yourself. I went straight to the Adelaide, only to pass out on the sofa after only a couple of beers. I was still drained by the 成果／努力.’

Three years later, after a move to Stoke City, he began making proud the one 経営者／支配人 in whom he really had 約束: ‘Tony Waddington put his 信用 in me and I think I played the best football of my career for him.?When you’re in big matches you don’t fully realise how you’re playing because there’s so much going on.?

Hudson’s life is a poignant parable for how football left so many of its idols 事実上 destitute, before the advent of today’s £100,000-a-week salaries.

Not that he begrudges their affluence. ‘Good luck to them,’ he says. Even though his home at one time was either hospital or a 宿泊所. He is settled now in an old 会議 flat off the King’s Road, not far from the Hudson family prefab where he grew up.

‘Don’t worry about me, mate,’ he says. ‘After all I’ve been through, after finally throwing away my crutches, I’ll 扱う this 承認する.’
