Lando Norris celebrated his first Grand Prix 勝利,勝つ by pulling an all-nighter in Miami with mate Max Verstappen and ゴルフ at Augusta... as JONATHAN McEVOY explains why the Brit believes he won't be waiting long to toast a second

  • Lando Norris won his first grand prix in Miami and celebrated in style
  • The Brit is 確信して that his second victory is 権利 around the corner?

Lando Norris loves the haters. We know it because he is reading ? and relishing ? every tweet that has (刑事)被告 him of 存在 cocky after his first 勝利,勝つ grand prix 勝利,勝つ in Miami.

That night he partied with friend Max Verstappen and America’s 主要な 冒険的な hedonists. He didn’t sleep that night, 事前の to a 一連の会議、交渉/完成する at Augusta 国家の. He birdied the par-three 12th, 主張するing he hadn’t overdone the revelry.

Another 一連の会議、交渉/完成する まっただ中に the azaleas and then some R&R. In 付加 news, his Lamborghini Miura ? 価値(がある) minimally £1million ? spluttered to a 停止(させる) in Monaco. Passersby spotted him ? his fame 延長するd by his maiden 勝利, he 推論する/理由d ? and helpfully 押し進めるd him to a successful jump start. 一方/合間, he has ordered a replica of his winning silverware, which he says will go in an Ikea 閣僚.

All the above is believable, other than for the Ikea bit.

But online he has attracted 批評 for 約束ing to take the fight to Red Bull and 勝利,勝つ again. In fact, he more than matched pal Verstappen for pace in Miami (even 事前の to the Dutchman 損失ing his car) and thus has 推論する/理由 for 楽観主義. Many bored 中立のs will hope he is 権利.

‘You can’t please everyone. And if I am not c onfident, people are like, “You have got no 約束 in the team.”

‘And then the minute I say we can 勝利,勝つ more races ? which I had already said at the beginning of the year ? people are like, “静める 負かす/撃墜する, hotshot.”

‘But I am also speaking on に代わって of the team that I 代表する. I am not 説 I can do anything now, that I am unbeatable, and I can do all of this.

‘Mechanics and engineers want to read what I say. I understand that now more than I used to a couple of years ago.

That’s his argument, and you can like it or not.

Who will 取って代わる Hamilton??

吊りくさび Hamilton wants Italian 十代の少年少女 Kimi Antonelli to 取って代わる him at Mercedes next year. ‘I’d take on a youngster,’ he said at Imola, when asked if 29-year-old Carlos Sainz or the 17-year-old was the better of the two 現実主義の 候補者s.

Carlos Sainz’s 地位,任命する-Ferrari 目的地 is 重要な to the driver market. If Toto Wolff wants 青年 in the Silver Arrow, Sainz would be in 需要・要求する at Williams. The converse would be so if Wolff prefers F2’s Antonelli.

McLaren's ode to Senna

A 小旅行する of the McLaren 科学(工学)技術 Centre the other day. I’d seen before most of the 300 トロフィーs in the 閣僚s next to the canteen.

Surely Ron Dennis, in his day as the king of the place, had a more convoluted 指名する for the communal eating place than ‘canteen’. A ‘digestive rehabilitation centre’, or some 類似の tongue-twister.

What I hadn’t seen in situ before was the wonderful statue of Ayrton Senna, who died at Imola 30 years ago. Sculpted from 160kg of raw bronze by British artist Paul Oz to 示す the 25th 周年記念日 of the Brazilian’s death, it catches him 正確に/まさに life-size, reclining in his seat, 権利 foot to the 床に打ち倒す, left-手渡す high, pelting through Eau 紅.

Williams hang on to 星/主役にする man Albon?

What he hopes will be a pivotal moment for Williams’ new team 主要な/長/主犯 James Vowles: the re-調印 of 星/主役にする driver Alex Albon this week.

The British-born Thai was coveted by Red Bull, but he has chosen to 投資する his 約束 in Williams, as they have their millions in him on a multi-year 取引,協定.

Albon is 決定的な to the Vowles 事業/計画(する). James told me earlier in an airport lounge ? the best 位置/汚点/見つけ出す for F1 gossip ? that he w as 確信して that he had Albon’s buy-in.

That’s been borne out and 論証するs the 知恵 of him (Vowles) 確実にするing that when the team embarrassingly had only one 機能(する)/行事ing car in Melbourne after Albon’s 粉砕する in practice that it was his de facto No 1 driver who raced it rather than his (for once) blameless team-mate Logan Sargeant.

Goodie 捕らえる、獲得するs go 行方不明の?

It seems a few goodie 捕らえる、獲得するs ーするつもりであるd for those who played a part in organising Sir Stirling Moss’s unforgettable 記念の service at Westminster Abbey last week were pilfered by other guests.

Not all good news for the pilferers. An item in each 捕らえる、獲得する was monogrammed. So ‘A どろぼう’ may be 板材d, for example, with an unfitting ‘DB’ for Derek Bell, who led some 祈りs during the service.

My generous 見解(をとる) is that gues ts thought the 捕らえる、獲得するs were a goodbye gift for all.

I am happy to 行為/法令/行動する as a conduit for those who wish to return the 略奪する.

As for me, not 有罪の, M’Lud.

'AskMeAnything '... or not

Silence, genius at work. Somebody at the FIA thought it might be a good idea to 開始する,打ち上げる a ‘AskMeAnything’ 控訴,上告 on X/Twitter. ‘減少(する) your questions in and we’ll answer the best ones,’ they 約束d.

Now, perhaps they thought they would be inundated with queries about Angola’s grassroots karting 開発 or a 最近の letter sent by the MENA 地域 and ACTAC sub-地域.

But no. A 列 were more along the lines of, ‘Why are you all a bunch of corrupt Red Bull sympathisers? And, ‘When are you going to 修正する the 強盗 that was the 2021 world 選手権?’
