When you think of the classic grand prix 跡をつけるs 現在/一般に on the F1 calendar,?すぐに?the 指名するs Monaco, Silverstone, Spa and Monza spring to mind for many fans.
Should any of those 回路・連盟s 減少(する) off the calendar anytime soon (I'm looking at you Monza) then 決まり文句/製法 One can 推定する/予想する a 抱擁する uproar from fans around the globe at the loss of a classic.
However, should Interlagos be axed you could 推定する/予想する a 類似の 返答, as the Brazilian Grand Prix at Sao Paulo has in 最近の?years arguably produced the most excitement on a 一貫した basis compared to any other 跡をつける on the calendar.
持つ/拘留するing a race 近づく the end of the season of course helps - 特に when there is a world 肩書を与える on the line - but the 親族 below 基準 施設s compared to the likes of Yas Marina in Abu Dhabi, along with its 不変の bumpy layout since its reintroduction in 1990 give the 跡をつける an old-school feel.
That's before you throw in the 予測できない 条件s which often throw up many surprises as Sportsmail 設立する out when we looked 支援する at the picture 古記録s:
There's been two 時代s of F1 racing at Interlagos. The 現在の 跡をつける - 大部分は 不変の since its return in 1990 - is 明確に 明白な but around the outside you can also still make out the old parts of the 回路・連盟 which ran around the lake you can see to the left of the picture in this 空中の 発射 from 1997. There is a lake to the 権利 of it, which is why the 跡をつける is 指名するd Interlagos (between lakes)
Ronnie Peterson (権利) grabbed his first ever 有利な立場(位置) for the very first world 選手権 Brazilian Grand Prix in 1973, but he lost out at the start to team-mate and 地元の favourite Emerson Fittipaldi, with Britain's Jackie Stewart (left) also making a 急速な/放蕩な start in his Tyrrell
Returning to Brazil as world 支持する/優勝者, Fittipaldi would go on to 勝利,勝つ his home race as he 試みる/企てるs to get past Ferrari's Jacky Ickx who would go on to finish fifth a (競技場の)トラック一周 負かす/撃墜する in 前線 of a big (人が)群がる in Sao Paulo. Notice the size difference between the 前線 and 後部 tyres on both cars although にもかかわらず the 後部 支配する on 申し込む/申し出 it still looks like Ickx is struggling with oversteer 長,率いるing into the corner
Fittipaldi won in 1974 too before another Sao Paulo 地元の in Carlos Pace 勝利d a year later (above). Here Pace celebrates his maiden grand prix 勝利,勝つ which would turn out to also be his final one after tragically dying in a light 航空機 事故 in 1977. Although the 回路・連盟 is still known as Interlagos, it's 公式の/役人 指名する was changed to Autodromo Jose Carlos Pace, as a 尊敬の印 に引き続いて his death
It's Interlagos but not as we know it today. The (土地などの)細長い一片 of 跡をつける that Gilles Villeneuve's Ferrari is guiding ジーンズ-Pierre Jabouille (Renault), Didier Pironi (Ligier) and Jacques Laffite (Ligier) around in 1980 no longer 存在するs - neither does the stretch 占領するd at the very 最高の,を越す of the picture. In the middle ground between the two lakes though is the second left turn which is 位置を示すd after the straight where today's 炭坑,オーケストラ席 出口 is
After a nine-year 任期 in Rio, the Brazilian Grand Prix returned to Interlagos in 1990 with a new Brazilian hero and a 縮めるd 跡をつける. There was to be no 栄冠を与えるing glory for Ayrton Senna though, who after 衝突する/食い違うing with former team-mate?Satoru Nakajima, broke his McLaren nose 反対/詐欺 and was 軍隊d to settle for third. Just to rub it in, arch 競争相手 and world 支持する/優勝者 Alain Prost would 選ぶ up the 勝利,勝つ for Ferrari
Erik 昏睡s' 1991 r エース for Ligier ended in みごたえのある fashion, as a 解雇する/砲火/射撃 from his Lamborghini engine 確実にするs his race is done after 50 (競技場の)トラック一周s. 解雇する/砲火/射撃 stewards nearby are 警報 as one 選ぶs up a 解雇する/砲火/射撃 extinguisher ready to put out the 炎上s before the Frenchman has even come to a 停止(させる)
Senna was a two-time 勝利者 at Interlagos with his last 勝利,勝つ at the 回路・連盟 coming in 1993 for McLaren. Senna 株 the podium with F1 王族 含むing second placed Damon Hill's Williams and Michael Schumacher's Benetton, making it the only time the trio would 株 a 最高の,を越す three rostrum. Senna was also t he last Brazilian to 勝利,勝つ at Sao Paulo until Felipe Massa in 2006 - more on him later...
Aryton Senna's Williams career got off to a flyer as he (人命などを)奪う,主張するd 有利な立場(位置) at Interlagos before 主要な into the first corner in 前線 of Ferrari's ジーンズ Ale si, Benetton's Michael Schumacher and team-mate Damon Hill. But Schumacher would 結局 take the lead after the 炭坑,オーケストラ席-stops before going on to 勝利,勝つ while Senna spun out the race trying to catch the German. It 始める,決める up the season for a 潜在的に exciting 肩書を与える 戦う/戦い between a legend of the sport and a young pretender before Senna was tragically killed at Imola in the third race of the season
One year on and Michael Schumacher has the 辛勝する/優位 over the Williams again. The world 支持する/優勝者 追いつくs 政治家 man Damon Hill at the start of the race before going on to 勝利,勝つ in 前線 of David Coulthard (centre) while Hill retired on (競技場の)トラック一周 30 with 中断 失敗
After 行方不明の out in 1995, Hill returned to Interlagos a year later and tasted victory in the wet, with the Williams driver finishing 18 seconds (疑いを)晴らす of Benetton's ジーンズ Alesi. It was a second straight 勝利,勝つ of the season for the Brit who would go on to (人命などを)奪う,主張する the 1996 world 肩書を与える
Hill celebrates on the podium after winning in 1996, while Michael Schumacher looks on dejected having finished a (競技場の)トラック一周 負かす/撃墜する in third. Schumacher was world 支持する/優勝者 but in his first year with Ferrari he would quickly realise he had little chance of 保持するing the 肩書を与える
It was 大虐殺 at the 'Senna S' at the start of the 1997 race as Jordan's Giancarlo Fisichella spun at the first corner which also 伴う/関わるd Ferrari's Eddie Irvine (left). The race was red flagged before Jacques Villeneuve took the lead from the 再開する before going on to 勝利,勝つ. Can you 指名する the driver and his team taking a shortcut at the 最高の,を越す of the picture? Answers are at the 底(に届く) of the page
This may be hard for a newer 世代 of 決まり文句/製法 One fans t o get their 長,率いる around but there was a time when McLaren were by far and away the class of the field rather than に引き続いて it around. In 1998, the Mercedes 力/強力にするd McLarens 嵐/襲撃するd to a one-two around Interlagos with Mika Hakkinen closely followed home by David Coulthard. Michael Schumacher's Ferrari was a minute behind in third
Not so lucky. The first BAR was an 半端物-looking モーター with its two contrasting livery designs either 味方する of the car, but it certainly looked better going around the 跡をつける rather than 粉砕するing into a 障壁 as Ricardo Zonta 設立する out after spinning off the 回路・連盟 in 1999
Heinz-Harald Frentzen was Jordan's golden boy in 1999, but after failing to 攻撃する,衝突する the same race winning 高さs in 2000, his career would 攻撃する,衝突する a downward spiral in 2001. At Interlagos he looks on 近づく the 出口 of the 炭坑,オーケストラ席-小道/航路 after a car 失敗 during practice. His Jordan wouldn't see the chequered 旗 either on race day and before the season was out he was controversially 解雇(する)d by the team
By the time 2001 (機の)カム around, Michael Schumacher's Ferrari dominance was 井戸/弁護士席 進行中で, but this wasn't going to stop Juan Pablo Montoya who in his debut season for Williams 押し進めるs the world 支持する/優勝者 out wide to take the lead. The Colombian led by half a minute until backmarker Jos Verstappen clumsily 衝突,墜落d into him, bringing both their races to an end. David Coulthard (centre 権利) took the 勝利,勝つ
Pele was good at 得点する/非難する/20ing goals, no football fan can 否定する that, but when it comes to waving chequered 旗s there is room for 改良. The Brazil World Cup winning legend was 仕事d with bringing an end to the race in 2002, but somehow 行方不明になるd race 勝利者 Michael Schumacher crossing the line. Instead ninth placed Takuma Sato was 'first' to see the end of the race in his Jordan
The 2003 Brazilian Grand Prix will go 負かす/撃墜する as one of the most incredible races of all time. Just one of the many sub-陰謀(を企てる)s at Interlagos was the river running across the 跡をつける which caught out Antonio Pizzonia's Jaguar (left) and even the 広大な/多数の/重要な Michael Schumacher's Ferrari 同様に as many others. Here stewards help (疑いを)晴らす up the 破片 on the outside of turn three which quickly became an 事故 hotspot
The race never made it to 71 (競技場の)トラック一周s. ?示す Webber binned his Jaguar into the tyre 障壁 to the 権利 of this picture in the run up to the finish line, while Fernando Alonso would 攻撃する,衝突する the 破片 as a result of the Australian's 衝突,墜落 to bring out the safety car then the red 旗. Giancarlo Fisichella was a shock leader at this point in the woeful Jordan as he follows the safety car through the 大虐殺
The red 旗 occurred with 16 (競技場の)トラック一周s remaining and as a result it brought the race to an abrupt end. Fernando Alonso was 分類するd third 予定 to count-支援する of results to two previous (競技場の)トラック一周s, but the Renault driver was winded by his 衝突,墜落 and was unable to take to the podium. On the day Kimi Rakkonen was incorrectly credited with the 勝利,勝つ 予定 to a タイミング error, and it meant no driver took his rightful step on the podium
The 演劇 even continued 地位,任命する-race. As Fisichella celebrated a 勝利,勝つ which he would have snatched away from him (then awarded 支援する a few days later) his Jordan would catch 解雇する/砲火/射撃 in parc ferme. It was a bizarre way for the Italian to (人命などを)奪う,主張する his first race 勝利,勝つ in what also 証明するd to be Jordan's last in the sport in their 200th grand prix. The team would later morph into Midland, Spyker and 結局 軍隊 India in 2008
In 2004, the Brazilian Grand Prix moved to its 現在の slot as an end-of season race. Michael Schumacher 支配するd the season and was already world 支持する/優勝者 by the time he took his 位置/汚点/見つけ出す for the end-of season photo. Here his Ferrari team-mate Rubens Barrichello 現在のs him with an inflatable donkey, while David Coulthard appears to join in with the joking around
Having been off the pace of the 前線 throughout the year, Williams ended the 2004 season with a surprise victory as Juan Pablo Montoya takes the chequered 旗 in his last race for the team before moving to McLaren. The good times were not on their way 支援する for Williams though, as a 拒絶する/低下する in form would result in the team not winning another race for eight years
A 星/主役にする is born. The ecstasy is (疑いを)晴らす to see on Fernando Alonso's 直面する as he celebrates winning his first world 肩書を与える in 2005 with two races to go after guiding his Renault to finish third behind the McLarens of Juan Pablo Montoya and 肩書を与える 競争相手 Kimi Raikkonen?
One year on and Alonso was again in a position to 勝利,勝つ the world 肩書を与える in the season finale at Interlagos. Here the Spaniard dives up the hill 長,率いるing に向かって the finish line with 発射s of Sao Paulo in the background. The Brazilian Grand Prix 存在 a 井戸/弁護士席 …に出席するd event but it is held in one of the poorer areas of the city with favela and shanty towns lining the 大勝する to the 回路・連盟
Alonso would go on to clinch the 2006 肩書を与える but there was only one thing on everyone's mind at the final race of the season. It was of course the last race of Michael Schumacher's career (井戸/弁護士席 before his three-year stint at Mercedes started in 2010) and photographers circled the Ferrari driver hoping to catch a good 発射 of the Italian's last hurrah. He was still in a position to snatch the 肩書を与える from Alonso
On a day where everyone tried to hog the limelight, it was Schumacher's team-mate Felipe Massa who would 勝利,勝つ the Brazilian Grand Prix as the Ferrari 星/主役にする 勝利d in his home race where he wore race 全体にわたるs in the colour of the Brazilian 国家の 旗
This was the moment 吊りくさび Hamilton watched the world 肩書を与える slip out of his しっかり掴む in 2007 as he runs his McLaren wide on the first (競技場の)トラック一周. Leaving him behind are Ferrari's Kimi Raikkonen, team-mate Fernando Alonso and Red Bull's 示す Webber. Hamilton would then run into technical problems which dropped him 負かす/撃墜する the field but にもかかわらず fighting 支援する to seventh he would 行方不明になる out on the 肩書を与える by one point
Cashing in on the misfortune of Hamilton was Raikkonen who by winning the race would 成し遂げる a sensational final-day turnaround to snatch the 肩書を与える awa y from both the Brit, in his 新人 season, and Fernando Alonso by just one point in his maiden year as a Ferrari driver
有利な立場(位置), fastest (競技場の)トラック一周 and the race 勝利,勝つ all at his home grand prix - so why isn't Felipe Massa celebrating wildly in 2008? 井戸/弁護士席 it was only after the race that the Ferrari driver realised that にもかかわらず taking the 勝利,勝つ, a last gasp 追いつく from 吊りくさび Hamilton on the last corner その上の 負かす/撃墜する the field had 否定するd him the world 選手権 by just one point. にもかかわらず the 抱擁する デフレ, Massa takes time to 屈服する to his car
選ぶing up the pieces was Hamilton who into the final corner of the final (競技場の)トラック一周 passed Toyota's Timo Glock to (人命などを)奪う,主張する the greatest fifth position of his career as it was enough to give the McLaren driver his maiden world 肩書を与える in 2008 - just one year after his Interlagos heart-break
You wait 12 years for a British 決まり文句/製法 One world 支持する/優勝者, then they come along 支援する-to-支援する. Jenson Button is 迎える/歓迎するd by the chequered 旗 - waved by Ferrari's 負傷させるd driver Felipe Massa - to finish fifth and (人命などを)奪う,主張する the 2009 world 肩書を与える while 運動ing for Brawn
It wasn't just Button's (centre with cap) 肩書を与える Brawn celebrated, with Rubens Barrichello's (left with cap) eighth place finish, the team in its only F1 season also clinched the 建設者's 肩書を与える. There is winning デオキシリボ核酸 in this outfit as they would become the 現在の Mercedes team
Remember this McLaren fans? This is Jenson Button celebrating winning the 2012 Brazilian Grand Prix on the podium - his and the team's 最新の victory to date. November 25 will 示す three years since McLaren last won a grand prix which is 55 races ago and looking at the 現在の Honda 力/強力にする 部隊 押し進めるing them around the 跡をつける, it could be another 55 races before they 勝利,勝つ again
As Button celebrated victory, it was also all smiles for the Germans. Sebastian Vettel's (left) つまずく to sixth in his Red Bull may have been a clumsy race for the world 支持する/優勝者 but it was enough to 保持する his 肩書を与える from Fernando Alonso by just three points. Congratulating his compatriot at the 炭坑,オーケストラ席-小道/航路 入ること/参加(者) is Michael Schumacher whose last ever F1 race ended with a s eventh place for the Mercedes driver
Interlagos may be one of the いっそう少なく glamorous 跡をつけるs but that doesn't stop the 星/主役にするs from visiting the paddock to 証言,証人/目撃する the only F1 race in South America. Former AC Milan and Brazil 今後 Alexandre Pato 提起する/ポーズをとるs in 前線 of a Red Bull car with model Fiorella Mattheis
