Petra K vitova began the year in 平和的な obscurity 階級d 34 in the world and ended it with a strong （人命などを）奪う，主張する to be the player of the season.

Her 最高位の will, 公式に, be No 2 but a Wimbledon 肩書を与える and a 7-5 4-6 6-3 victory in the final of the BNP Paribas WTA 選手権s over Victoria Azarenka 示唆するs she can morally 論争 the No 1 position with Caroline Wozniacki.

How fitting that the most 予測できない year in the history of the women’s game should so feature the rise of someone barely known beyond the sport’s cognoscenti ten months ago.

What can certainly be said at the end of it all is that a new 世代 of players are 堅固に 工場／植物ing themselves on ground more familiarly held by the likes of Kim Clijsters and the Williams sisters.

The world’s 最高の，を越す two players are now 老年の 21, with No 3 Azarenka only 22. The upstarts have given their older sisters plenty to think about over their winter break.
