The demurely dressed woman at check-in makes herself （疑いを）晴らす. ‘This is a “乾燥した，日照りの” hotel, so there’s no alcohol at all.’ Then she 手渡すs me a brochure and says: ‘But we do have a spa with all these 治療s.’

It’s hard to see how a spa stands in for a 妨げる／法廷，弁護士業 ― and harder still to picture Harry Kane and the lads returning from a 勝利を得た４半期/4分の1-final hoping to 沈む a few celebratory 地位，任命する-match pints and 存在 given detox tea, followed by a 開会／開廷／会期 of ‘Radiance Facial and Nail ポーランドの（人） pampering’.

But that’s 正確に／まさに what England 経営者／支配人 Gareth Southgate has in mind for his squad at next month’s FIFA World Cup in Qatar. After five visits to the Souq Al Wakra Hotel Qatar by Tivoli ― the first one way 支援する in the summer of 2019 ― he selected this as the team hotel.

The hotel has 101 rooms with 'comfortable' beds

Over a glass of mango juice, the hotel’s sales director, Aiman Merenciano, tells me that although most big hotels in Qatar’s 資本／首都, Doha, sell alcohol, Southgate’s shortlist 含む／封じ込めるd just three 訴える手段／行楽地s ― all of them booze-解放する／自由な. What’s more, Gareth seems deliberately to have 選ぶd the most modest and borderline-boring accommodation he could find.

While the Dutch team is staying in the 資本／首都’s glitzy centre, at the ￡350-a-night St Regis Doha, where every room comes with a butler who will ‘arrive after your morning wake-up call to draw your shades’, England’s hotel sells rooms from ￡64 and is in the sleepy 郊外 of Al Wakrah.

It’s laid out, as Arabic houses 伝統的に are, in a 一連の静かな中庭s, each with a shady tree or sssshhh-ing fountain at its centre. There are 101 rooms, so no need for any of the players to 株 as they used to until the 1990s.

The biggest danger may be 退屈. 同様に as a comfortable bed and a 慎重に marbled bathroom, my Junior 控訴 has a plush sitting room with a 抱擁する TV. But the only other ‘entertainment’ 選択 is the copy of the Koran I find in the 病人の枕元 drawer, along with a 祈り mat.

And in the middle of the hotel, I watch men 労働 in the 35-degree h eat to 変える a large fountain into a small swimming pool so that the boys can dust off the inflatable unicorns that were such a 攻撃する，衝突する at the 2018 World Cup.

What seems rough is that the FA 最高の，を越す厚かましさ／高級将校連’s biggest 譲歩 is to themselves: staying a few hundred metres away at the Souq Al Wakra Hotel’s sister 所有物／資産／財産, where the no-alcohol 支配する has been waived.

Aiman tells me that more than 150 安全 staff will guard the hotel and its 100-strong 次第で変わる／派遣部隊 of England footballers and 公式の／役人s during the tournament ― though it’s not （疑いを）晴らす if the 激しいs are there to keep onlookers out or the players in ― not least because Qatar is a country where it’s 平易な for foreigners to get into trouble with 保守的なイスラム教徒 customs and strict 法律s.

If any of the 星／主役にするs do escape, outside their 平和的な要塞 they’ll find the souq: an 古代の market that’s a lovely, lose-yourself 絡まる of 小道／航路s, with the honey market beside the spice market jostling と一緒に the date market and the 残り／休憩（する）.

At one end, cafes and restaurants serve classic Arabian dishes (but no alcohol); and in 前線 of them a public beach where the sand, as soft as the drinks, slopes 負かす／撃墜する into the sighingly warm Arabian Sea.

投機・賭けるing その上の, Doha’s biggest tourist attractions are the 国家の Museum (remarkable for its architecture) and exquisite Museum of Islamic Art, where the aesthetes of the team will no 疑問高く評価する／（相場などが）上がる the intricate calligraphy and ornate 飛行機で行く-素早い行動扱うs.

Doha’s other draw is Souq Waqif: it’s bigger and livelier than Al Wakrah’s, and 著名な for its falcon market. These magnificent birds are prized in Qatari culture for their 追跡（する）ing abilities. You may even see them in 活動／戦闘 at one of Qatar’s 砂漠（軍の）野営地，陣営s, where 地元のs and tourists gather for camel rides, sand-搭乗, dune-bashing in 4x4s and camera-反抗するing sunsets.

The England WAGs have a team hotel, too. They’re staying at the ￡350 a night 白人指導者べったりの東洋人 Island ― a glamorous 訴える手段／行楽地, on its own islet off Doha’s coast, 始める，決める out Maldives-style with 控訴s on stilts over the water. It’s only reachable by boat and it, too, is 乾燥した，日照りの.

支援する at the players’ billet, general 経営者／支配人 Emad Nabulsi is excited about hosting the England squad. He knows that should England 勝利, his hotel might become a tourist attractio n in its own 権利.
