Amy arrived for her scholarship audition at 12, rather shy and a bit apprehensive.

Then she sang and all that was forgotten.

She lit up the room, her 発言する/表明する was so rich and pure.

I still have our comments on her audition: 'Very 円熟した, big sound, excellent technique.'

I've always said she's a cross between a young Judy Garland and Ella Fitzgerald.

Academically, Amy was 極端に 有望な - her English teacher thought she would be a 新聞記者/雑誌記者 or 小説家 because she was such a gifted writer.

I think it was because she was so clever that she got bored so quickly.

And when she was bored, she would misbehave.

Never anything serious or malicious, never 麻薬s or alcohol; she was just 破壊的な.

We've kept in touch. I don't ask about her personal life, although I am sad she should be 哀れな and troubled.

She seemed such a nice, strong person.

I (機の)カム across David as a young Etonian, 老年の about 14, and saw him for one tutorial 開会/開廷/会期 a week.

He was 去っていく/社交的な, 有望な and 一般に enthusiasti c - but most Etonians are.

One couldn't say he stood out as a high flier. He was not やむを得ず a person one would 推定する/予想する to make a 抱擁する public 示す.

I remember Boris Johnson 同様に - he had an exuberance that was always likely to find a public 出口; that wasn't 現在の in David.

Kate (機の)カム to us when she was 11 and I taught her tap and modern dance until she left at 16.

She wasn't fabulously good-looking, but we always thought she was an 極端に good actress and played Wendy in Peter Pan.

She was very popular and the little ones adored her - we thought she might become a teacher.

Simon was a very unhappy, nicotine-(麻薬)常用者d, skinny, scruffy, dishevelled, pimply teen - rather like most boys at any school.

I 設立する him amusing in a quirky way.

He やめる often had some wisecrack or other on the tip of his tongue.

He was admired by some of the boys after he left school with his O-level or two because he got a 職業 as a mail boy at some London 記録,記録的な/記録する company.

He has become やめる pudgy from what I saw once on the box, and still does not know how to dress.

But his sardonic wit is leaven to the morass of TV idiocy.

Joanne has said that no characters in Harry Potter are based more than 10 per cent on any one person.

I suppose the fact that I used to have long, 黒人/ボイコット hair, like the Hogwarts teacher Severus Snape, is just a coincidence.

But to be honest, I do think Snape, 特に in the later 調書をとる/予約するs, is very like me.

Joanne would have been about 12 when I taught her.

Her days at Wyedean were pretty 哀れな.

The school was like a 刑務所,拘置所, and then her mum (機の)カム 負かす/撃墜する with MS.

Anne Rowling worked as my 専門家技術者, and Joanne would come and wait at the science 封鎖する for her mum so they could walk home together.

It was obvious the child was very 関心d about her mother - preoccupied.

She was a very 静かな child. I don't remember her ever answering a question - she would go to 広大な/多数の/重要な lengths to 避ける 答える/応じるing.

I think she was tucking it all away in her 長,率いる to use later in her stories.

David should have got far better A-level results: it's no secret he got three Bs and a D.

He wasn't what you'd call a character, but he was very articulate and had a strong presence.

He showed brillian t attention to 詳細(に述べる) and 広大な/多数の/重要な tenacity.

He was outstandingly Left-wing.

I remember him 存在 堅固に against the 侵略 of the Falklands.

In class, David was never lippy, but he could be 需要・要求するing until he 伸び(る)d a (疑いを)晴らす understanding of the topic at 手渡す.

What I remember most was his ambition.

I remember a couple of people 説: 'He'll be 首相 one day.'

Jude joined us at 14.

He'd been at 栄冠を与える 支持を得ようと努めるd 包括的な, where he'd b een いじめ(る)d, so he (機の)カム to us late.

He didn't know anybody, but it didn't faze him, he just 攻撃する,衝突する the ground running, which shows his 信用/信任.

He quickly became 伴う/関わるd in 事実上の/代理, and got rave reviews in the school magazine for some of the plays he was in.

He was certainly 有望な, but some teachers weren't keen on his arrogance.

He used to toe the line, but he was never afraid to give you his opinion if he felt he'd been 扱う/治療するd 不公平に.

He wasn't that popular with some of his 同時代のs, either.

He was such a polished character, and they felt he thought a lot of himself.

Some boys were jealous of the fact that he was やめる popular with the girls too.

RICKY GERVAIS: ASHMEAD SCHOOL, Reading (1972-1979). Tony Burford, English

Everyone knew Ricky. He was the same at 17 as he is now.

He'd say things that would make you cringe.

He wouldn't do a 発言する/表明する, but would take on the persona of someone with bizarre or un-PC opinions.

I knew he was joking, but I had the feeling that if someone heard him at the next (米)棚上げする/(英)提議する, they'd think he was awful.

I was at once amused and terrified by him.

My fondest memory of Daniel is his 業績/成果 as one of the ugly sisters in Cinderella.

It was a delight to see a young man who could 展示(する) such 力/強力にする and 成熟 on 行う/開催する/段階, letting his hair 負かす/撃墜する and revelling in the comedy.

He and his friend, Richard, who was the other sister, had the audience in fits of laughter.

Contrary to general opinion, most competent actors can make a reasonable を刺す at 悲劇 - comedy takes talent.

Underneath the 堅い exterior of 007, there is a tremendous sense of fun.

Boris wasn't in my class, but I knew who he was.

He was an entertaining character.

He was a scholar, and they have a special uniform, so he was in this white surplice and he really didn't look comfortable.

He had the mop of blond hair then, and shambled in the same way he does today.

Some might have said he looked a scruff, but he was a very clever boy.

She was very attractive: a 集まり of hair, a 人物/姿/数字 - although not as voluptuous as now.

She was also clever, charming and really with it.

She loved to talk in class - the sort of natter that goes on behind the teacher's 支援する.

She loved French and I thought she'd do something with languages.

I remember Salman on his first day because I walked into school with him.

It was a 冷淡な winter's morning and he was a lonely little boy who'd just arrived from India. He was 13.

All Rugbeians have a stiff upper lip, but he struck me as someone who was going to take a while to settle 負かす/撃墜する.

My recollection is that he didn't distinguish himself at school in any 劇の way.

I think he was an 部外者.

I had a classroom that overlooked the sports field and I remember, just after he'd joined the school, watching this little boy batting.

When they're young, the boys all (人が)群がる around the bat, but as I watched I could see the fielders moving さらに先に and さらに先に out as Andrew 攻撃する,衝突する the ball harder and harder.

He was always a very talented cricketer, but he was also level-長,率いるd.

He went on the under-19s 小旅行する to South Africa just before his GCSEs, and I remember him 説: 'It's going to be really difficult doing my exams, but I'll do my best because cricket might not happen for me.'

He was a solid, 普通の/平均(する) student.

He still comes up to Preston to see his grandma. He was a really nice lad.

LILY ALLEN: THE CAVENDISH SCHOOL, London (1996-2000). Rachel Santesso, music

I was 20 and had just moved to London when I met Lily.

She was 11 and she (機の)カム shuffling into my music room.

The kids sat on the 床に打ち倒す while I taught them from the piano, and Lily stood out because she looked so disgruntled.

She had short, messy hair, 抱擁する, melancholy 注目する,もくろむs and a tomboyish 外見.

いつかs, I'd walk into the office and find Lily sitting there with a world-疲れた/うんざりした look on her 直面する, waiting to be told off yet again.

One day, I heard Lily singing Wonderwall to herself.

I asked her to come in at lunchtime for singing lessons, and that was when I discovered how truly talented she was.

When she finally 成し遂げるd at a school event, she made the audience cry.

I taught Tony French and German from the ages of 13 to 16.

He (機の)カム 最高の,を越す of the class in both, and I was delighted when he 演説(する)/住所d the French 議会 in French - a rare 業績/成就 for a British 首相.

His 出資/貢献s to 演劇 were very 関連した to his political career.

When he was 15, he appeared in Julius Caesar, playing 示す Antony, the 最高の embodiment in Shakespeare of the subtle, 技術d 政治家,政治屋.

Even then, Tony had this 磁石の 教祖的指導力 and ability to sway people.

He was a very gifted debater and won every 一連の会議、交渉/完成する of the junior 審議ing 選手権 when he was 14.

Some of the 支配するs that (機の)カム up are rather 利益/興味ing: 'This house would make smoking 違法な.'

Of course, Tony did make smoking 違法な.

He was also a natural sportsman. I made him my cricket captain and I remember David McMurray, the master in 告発(する),告訴(する)/料金 of rugger, 説: 'Blair is the most 勇敢な tackler I've ever seen.'

He'd 苦しむd a lot of 悲劇 in his life, his mother having died and his father having had a 一打/打撃, but he was always cheerful.

He had an engaging, わずかに 挑発的な nature, and an enchanting smile.

The first ever girl to arrive at school was called Amanda McKenzie-Stewart; she was 極端に pretty and clever and, not surprisingly, out of the entire school, she chose Tony as her boyfriend.

At the time, he was anti the 連合させるd cadet 軍隊, and プロの/賛成の CND.

That is an area where his 見解(をとる)s have 転換d.

Paula was an 優れた individual.

I taught her A-level maths and thought she'd 適用する to Oxbridge.

She was 極端に academic, but in the end she went to Loughborough for the 運動競技のs.

She was 16 and had just become the world junior cross-country 支持する/優勝者.

She trained before and after school, but never skipped homework.

That's why she's 達成するd what she has.

明白に she didn't have a normal teenage life, but she had friends and was sociable.
