Over the summer I was lucky enough to be 招待するd to a 60th birthday at which the after-dinner entertainment was a 私的な 業績／成果 by one of the UK's 主要な male pop 星／主役にするs. More 注目する，もくろむ-popping than the actual show, though, was how incredible said 星／主役にする looked. He was a mere 影をつくる／尾行する of his former self, prancing around the 行う／開催する／段階 in a silver catsuit. His secret? Semaglutide, or Ozempic as it is branded, a new diet 麻薬 that everybody ? but everybody, darling, 含むing one of the world's most famous supermodels ? is 明らかに taking.?

初めは developed to 扱う／治療する type 2 糖尿病, it is used off-label (for a 目的 other than that for which it was licensed) in both the US and the UK to 扱う／治療する obesity. In 研究 行為／行うd by its 億万長者 製造業者, the Danish-based 製薬の company Novo Nordisk, 患者s lost an 普通の／平均（する） of 17 per cent of their 全体にわたる 団体／死体 負わせる over 68 weeks. This compares with five to nine per cent for 'oldschool' anti-obesity 麻薬s such as Metformin.?

Only 利用できる in the UK on the NHS?if you have type 2 糖尿病, Ozempic can be 得るd through a 私的な doctor, and if you are willing to take it without 医療の?監督 ? not recommended by doctors (see パネル盤) ? you can get it online through さまざまな 負わせる-loss programmes. It is いつかs taken in tablet form but more 一般的に as an 注射.?

Predictably, Hollywood has been aware of Ozempic for a lot longer than us ? Variety magazine recently quipped that the 麻薬 deserved its own thank-you speech at the Emmys, as so many 星／主役にするs on the podium had 明白に been taking it. Elon Musk raved about its more powerful sister 麻薬, Wegovy, on Twitter; Kim Kardashian, it is hotly rumoured, used semaglutide to lose 16lb ーするために fit into Marilyn Monroe's dress for the Met Ball. On TikTok the hashtag #ozempic has had more than 285 million 見解（をとる）s.?

Thanks to the hype, there has been a 殺到する in 需要・要求する, 原因（となる）ing 不足s on both 味方するs of the 大西洋, with a （激しい）反発 against influencers and celebrities hogging 供給（する）s ahead of desperate 糖尿病 苦しんでいる人s. Predictably, Big Pharma has come up with an 代案／選択肢 ? tirzepatide (brand 指名する Mounjaro), 製造（する）d by Eli Lilly ? but it has yet to be 認可するd by the US Food & 麻薬 行政 for 負わせる loss.?

Novo Nordisk has 問題／発行するd a 声明 to say its 供給（する）s will be 補充するd by the end of the year, but it hasn't 鎮圧するd 苦悩. At least two middle-老年の male friends of 地雷 who started using it in September are getting themselves in a 新たな展開 about 存在 caught short before the holidays. As one 私的な London GP 発言／述べるd to me: 'It's like the H RT panic last spring.'?

So what 正確に／まさに is this 麻薬? Semaglutide belongs to a class called GLP-1 agonists, which not only 規制する 血 sugar but, as was discovered about a １０年間 ago, also mimic the gut hormones that 規制する our appetites ? the ones that tell the brain when we are hungry or 十分な. There are, of course, 味方する 影響s: 酸性の reflux, nausea, exacerbation of IBS symptoms and 疲労，（軍の）雑役 (but much いっそう少なく so than in earlier GLP-1 agonists such as Saxenda), 同様に as pancreatitis, 胆石s and, in very high doses, it has 原因（となる）d 甲状腺 tumours in ネズミs. 一方／合間, when you stop using it the 影響 wears off すぐに and in some 事例／患者s it won't work at all.?

'I would 述べる semaglutide as an example of very smart science,' says 主要な 顧問 endocrinologist Dr Efthimia Karra from her 私的な practice off London's Harley Street. 'But it is no t a panacea for everyone. He has seen it have a transformational 影響, too, on much younger women who 苦しむ polycystic ovary syndrome. 'PCOS 苦しんでいる人s are difficult to 扱う／治療する, and you can imagine how 団体／死体 image plays a very important part when it comes to self-esteem.'?

Semaglutide may be the rich person's 麻薬 today, but might it be 認可するd for more 普及した use? Only time will tell.
