There is a moment 近づく the beginning of this 優れた four-part 演劇 about the 2015 殺人 of a 小説家 and retired English teacher by a manipulative 反対／詐欺 artist where the 犠牲者, Peter Farquhar, is talking to his priest and confidant about his feelings of shame and 犯罪 around his homosexuality.
'Do you think Christ wants you to be lonely and unhappy?' asks his friend. 'That is a 討議する point, isn't it,' replies Farquhar. 'Why?' 'Because I do not think it is possible for me to be loved.'
This is an awful story, about two 攻撃を受けやすい people whose 親切 was cruelly 偉業／利用するd by an opportunistic predator, Benjamin Field, now serving a life 宣告，判決 for the 殺人 of Farquhar. Pictured:?Timothy Spall, Eanna Hardwicke and Anne Reid
In the mouth of any other actor, that line might have felt like soapy self-pity.
But 配達するd by Timothy Spall, who plays Farquhar, those words carry such depth of feeling, such melancholy and 静かな humility, that one can only feel a heart-rending sadness for this intelligent, 肉親，親類d man whose own self-loathing led him into the 武器 of an unscrupulous conman and 殺し屋.
This is an awful story, about two 攻撃を受けやすい people whose 親切 was cruelly 偉業／利用するd by an opportunistic predator, Benjamin Field, now serving a life 宣告，判決 for the 殺人 of Farquhar.
The irony is that Farquhar was loved 深く，強烈に by many ? his friends and family, 世代s of children he taught during a teaching career spanning 35 years. But his inner 衝突 and 騒動 about his sexuality, 連合させるd with his devout nature, resulted ? as sadly it often did for men of his 世代 ? in feelings of shame and repression.
If Spall 住むs his 役割 with tremulous subtlety and grace, then Eanna Hardwicke as Field brings a 冷気／寒がらせるing charm to the character of this charismatic young student and church warden who first seduced Farquhar and then his 隣人, retired headteacher Ann Moore-ツバメ (Anne Reid), in the 静かな Buckinghamshire village of Maids Moreton.
The 犠牲者s could hardly have hoped for a more 極度の慎重さを要する re-telling of their story.?
Written by Sarah Phelps (A Very British スキャンダル) and directed by Saul Dibb, who made the fact-based 演劇 The Salisbury Poisonings, it approaches the 悲劇 with 深い sadness ? but also a 肉親，親類d of beauty that makes it even more painfully poignant.
Spall and Reid are beyond brilliant in the way they portray their 試験的な dreams of romance, their powerlessness in the 直面する of Field's emotional 猛攻撃.

Their story is a 思い出の品 of the fragility of the human heart, and of its vulnerability in the 直面する of evil ? and how, in our natural 願望（する） to be loved, we いつかs fail to 位置／汚点／見つけ出す the danger before our very 注目する，もくろむs.
The hardest 役割, however, 落ちるs to Hardwicke. It is not 平易な to play such 冷淡な-hearted evil with such depth and 複雑さ, and yet he manages it, seducing the テレビ視聴者 along with the protagonists.
Luckily we can see what he's really up to; sadly, Farquhar and Moore-ツバメ could not.
They won't be the first, or the last, to 落ちる prey to a charming monster. But at least their story is now told.
Hilariously OTT 90s nostalgia?

I enjoyed every second of this hilariously over-the-最高の，を越す comedy about an 電気の goods salesman in 早期に-90s Stockport. It opens with an 広告 in which our hero ? ツバメ Parker, played with cheesy gusto by Conleth Hill ? 招待するs テレビ視聴者s to '扱う／治療する the wife' to a new vacuum cleaner at one of his 電気の emporiums.
A cross between Robert Kilroy-Silk and Del Boy, Parker is living the dream: successful 実業家, Mercedes in the 運動, daughter at 私的な school, wife at home, mistress in town. But things aren't as rosy as they seem.
He 借りがあるs a lot of money to some very 汚い people and is having an 事件／事情／状勢 with his wife's sister Kath (Sian Gibson), which his wife Diane (Rosie Cavaliero) is unaware of ? even though it's been going on for 25 years.

When Parker decides to 捨てる Kath on the advice of his accountant, she, understandably, is miffed ? even more so when he turfs her out of the flat he's been 支払う／賃金ing for.
There 続いて起こるs an uproarious comedy of errors that's also brilliantly nostalgic for the 90s and a 確かな 肉親，親類d of outrageous male behaviour.
The 業績／成果s are fantastic, 特に the two sisters, whose love/hate 関係 leads to escapades 含むing a hilarious scene in a nightclub when they accidentally become part of the rave scene. A joyous, classic British comedy.

What We Do In The 影をつくる／尾行するs (series 1-4, Disney+; series 2-3, BBC iPlayer) is a show that makes no sense on paper, but I find it irresistible.

I'm so excited that Hulu have just 開始する，打ち上げるd a fifth series in America, which no 疑問 will be winging its way here soon. The joy is the combination of supernatural with mundane: 血-suckers in suburbia is intriguing, don't you agree??
