Judgment. It’s a dirty word for an entire 世代. Social マスコミ (犯罪の)一味s with the words: ‘You ain’t got no 権利 to 裁判官 me!’

Twenty-two-year-old Kenzey said it 繰り返して in The (刑事)被告 (C5). The young mother was aggrieved beyond all endurance that 完全にする strangers thought they had the 権利 to 裁判官 her.

Kenzey’s slight diffic ulty was that these ‘完全にする strangers’ were a 栄冠を与える 法廷,裁判所 陪審/陪審員団, and she was 直面するing serious 告発(する),告訴(する)/料金s of failing to 保護する her own seven-week-old baby.

The fascination in this programme was not 単に experiencing a serious 犯罪の 事例/患者 first-手渡す, through the 安全な filter of TV.

It was in trying to decode the real facts from watching an 情熱的な, いつかs articulate young woman who was, we 徐々に realised, in 完全にする 否定. She knew her baby had 苦しむd appalling 傷害s, and that if she had not (打撃,刑罰などを)与えるd them then her partner must have done.

The beauty of this one-off 文書の was that it enabled us to form our own judgment before the 判決 was 明らかにする/漏らすd. The 失望/欲求不満 was that so much 詳細(に述べる) had to be condensed to fit it into a 90-minute episode.

Apple Tree Yard (BBC1) also built to a 法廷,裁判所 事例/患者, though it was drawn out to an excruciating degree. The long silences, the repetitions, the dreary, self-pitying voiceover... and just when you thought it couldn’t become any more of a slog, there were moments of slow 動議.

The big 新たな展開 in the final scene was that scientist Yvonne (Emily Watson) had 現実に told her lover Costley (Ben Chaplin) to kill the man who 強姦d her ― but she hadn’t meant it really. It wasn’t 殺人, just a miscommunication, so that’s all 権利 then.

A pple Tree Yard was 深く,強烈に pretentious and painfully slow, but worst of all were its characters. It was impossible to like anything about any of them. And so ― 有罪の, not 有罪の, grey area in between... I just couldn’t care.
