Blowing his own trumpet - the boy who created Gavin and Stacey

He is known to millions of テレビ視聴者s as Smithy in the 教団 TV series Gavin & Stacey, and one of comedy's hottest new talents. But to his former school friends he will always be the cheeky boy who played the cornet at the end-of-称する，呼ぶ／期間／用語 concert.

This is ten-year-old James Corden 成し遂げるing at his old school nearly 20 years ago.

He has grown up to become an ありそうもない sex symbol, linked to pop 星／主役にする Lily Allen and 襲う by 女性（の） fans wherever he goes.

Blowing his cornet at the end-of-称する，呼ぶ／期間／用語 concert

Last month he won a Bafta award for Best Comedy 業績／成果 for his 役割 in the BBC3 show, which he co-wrote with Ruth Jones ? who plays Nessa ? and it was 指名するd Programme of the Year.

Two １０年間s ago he was a little shyer in 前線 of an audience than he is now. But he was already beginning to show glimpses of the 事実上の／代理 talent which would make him a 星／主役にする.

This picture is taken from a ビデオ 記録，記録的な／記録するing of the 1988 Christmas concert at Park 郡 Middle School in Hazlemere, Buckinghamshire. The school 長，率いる at the time, David Cox, said last night: "James was an 絶対の joy to teach. He could do just about anything he turned his 手渡す to.

"Whenever we had concerts he was always very 目だつ because he was so versatile. He could 行為／法令／行動する, he could sing, he could play musical 器具s. He was the life and soul. I am not a bit surprised to see the success he has had."

In one sequence in the ビデオ James, now 29, reads out a poem called A Bad Habit, about a boy who is （麻薬）常用者d to chewing bus tickets.

He has a ticket with him on 行う／開催する／段階 which he slowly chews into a messy 低俗雑誌 as he reads out the poem. At one point he says "sticket" instead of ticket and has to stop himself from laughing to carry on.

どこかよそで in the ビデオ he nervously plays a cornet 単独の and later dons a poncho to sing the Red Sombrero song with his classmates.

A friend who also appears in the school ビデオ said: "He was a very cheeky boy. He used to chase the girls around the playground.

"He was 明確に a gifted comic actor from a young age. He was a precocious talent. He's a big 星／主役にする now, but to me he's the boy I knew at school who played the cornet."
