What's Cooking? (Cert 12)

British film-製造者 Gurinder Chadha's belated follow-up to Bhaji On The Beach is a 熟達した comic 演劇 of four Los Angeles families - Latino, Vietnamese, African-American and ユダヤ人の - celebrating Thanksgiving. What's Cooking? is a small 奇蹟. Rather like those rich, コンビナート／複合体 meals that are somehow all ready on time and come hot to the （米）棚上げする／（英）提議する, this is a 抱擁する film ーに関して／ーの点でs of 範囲 and ambition (41 speaking parts), yet it is kept beautifully under 支配（する）／統制する.

How will Elizabeth (Mercedes Ruehl) introduce her new boyfriend to her large, 熱烈な family, now her estranged husband has turned up? 'Hi,' she 迎える／歓迎するs him.

'Feeling strong? Good.' How can Trinh (Joan Chen) keep her teenage children 安全な? Will Rachel (Kyra Sedgwick) ever get her parents to 受託する she is a lesbian?

Under all the humour, Chadha makes a 強烈な and 楽観的な point about the inclusiveness of American 身元. After all, this is a Los Angeles you rarely see in movies: 郊外の American families with children called Jimmy and Jenny - who just happen not to be white, Anglo-Saxon or Protestant. The food looks gorgeous, by the way.
