Crazy/Beautiful (Cert 12)

by CHRISTOPHER TOOKEY, Daily Mail

Kirsten Dunst is a marvellous young actress, and never better than in this account of a mentally 安定性のない 十代の少年少女 from a rich, white background 落ちるing for an ambitious young Hispanic (Jay Hernandez) who is anxious to get on in life, and not make waves.

It is her rawness and the 質 of Bruce Davison's 業績/成果 as her justifiably anguished, 自由主義の 下院議員 father that raise this movie above the commonplace in many of its scenes.

Unfortunately, it is let 負かす/撃墜する very 不正に by its teen-movie 面s.

A 激しく揺する soundtrack intrudes with a horribly brazen 意図 to sell the CD. For all the MTV-style flashiness of John Stockwell's direction, the Romeo and Juliet storyline is stolid and unimaginative, with too obvious a similarity to another 最近の cross cultural love story, Save The Last Dance.

Hernandez's character is a little too 円熟した and squeaky-clean to be 納得させるing, and the film's 決意 to get no more than a 12 証明書 means that some very obvious 妥協s have been made, which 土台を崩す the actors' 成果/努力s to give the film 本物の depth and pathos.

Since bursting upon the scene seven years ago as a child actress in Interview With The Vampire, 行方不明になる Dunst has given a 一連の 優れた 業績/成果s.

Aspiring British teenage actresses should watch this movie and learn from Dunst's tremendous 力/強力にする, energy and transparency of emotion.
