Mulholland 運動 (Cert 15)

やめる what テレビ視聴者s will make of David Lynch's Mulholland 運動 is difficult to 予報する, but I have a こそこそ動くing feeling that the 結局の 合意 will be: 'What on earth was all that about?'

Yes, after the gentle eccentricity of The Straight Story, that everyday tale of an old man and his sit-upon lawnmower, Lynch has turned 本気で weird again.

It's a move that will delight those whose proudest 所有／入手s are boxed ビデオs of Twin 頂点（に達する）s, Lynch's 教団 1990 television series.

But it does leave him wide open to 告訴，告発s of self-parody and even pretension. The 早期に 調印するs (a Best Director award from Cannes and a couple of Golden Globe 指名／任命s etc) 示唆する that he might just get away with it. But I have a こそこそ動くing feeling he shouldn't.

The first half of the film is impressive, にもかかわらず the problem of keeping up with a typically challenging multi-立ち往生させるd story.

With the first of many 思い出の品s of Twin 頂点（に達する）s, Lynch at least makes the 職業 a little easier by casting two 減少（する）-dead gorgeous actresses in the central 役割s: Naomi ワットs as the blonde wannabe actress, Betty, and Laura Elena Harring, as the mysterious, smouldering Rita.

It's Rita we 会合，会う first, reclining elegantly in the 支援する of a リムジン purring along L.A.'s Mulholland 運動.

Suddenly, the driver pulls a gun on her but, just as suddenly, a スピード違反 car 激突するs into the リムジン, 殺人，大当り her 加害者 and his 共犯者.

Dazed, 混乱させるd, but still beautifully made up, she is just about 井戸／弁護士席 enough to limp to a nearby house which the soon-to-arrive Betty has borrowed from her aunt. Still with me?

Rita, it turns out, is 苦しむing from amnesia and has no idea who she is or why her purse is stuffed 十分な of cash. I have to say I 現れるd, more than two hours later, with no idea either and, thanks to a fantastically over-indulged final ４半期/4分の1, pretty much past caring, too.

Along the ますます bizarre way, Lynch takes some マリファナ- 発射s at the Hollywood studio system with a 悪意のある deskbound dwarf 需要・要求するing a deadly say in the casting of a 主要な lady.

He also introduces us to a bungling serial 殺し屋 and 行う／開催する／段階s a lesbian sex scene of such gratuitous steaminess that my remaining しっかり掴む of the 陰謀（を企てる） disappeared altogether. Like Lynch, I end as I began. What on earth was that all about?
