SA scientists in major leukaemia 前進する
South Australian scientists have made a 重要な 前進する in 打ち勝つing 麻薬 抵抗 の中で 患者s with 激烈な／緊急の myeloid leukaemia, a rare 血 癌 that kills most 苦しんでいる人s within a few years.

One of the lead authors, Stuart Pitson, said the finding could revolutionise the 治療 of AML, a 病気 that recently （人命などを）奪う，主張するd the lives of SA football 広大な／多数の／重要な Russell Ebert and professional golfer Jarrod Lyle.
"Each year in Australia, around 900 people are 診断するd with AML, a 癌 of the 血 and bone 骨髄 characterised by an overproduction of cancerous white 血 独房s called leukaemic 爆破s," Professor Pitson said.
"These 独房s （人が）群がる out normal white 血 独房s, which then can't do their usual 感染-fighting work, その為に 増加するing the 危険 of 感染s, low oxygen levels and bleeding."
SA Pathology haematologist David Ross said many AML 患者s 最初 答える／応じるd to Venetoclax, a new therapy recently 名簿（に載せる）／表（にあげる）d on the PBS, but over time AML 独房s became 抵抗力のある.
Using a large biobank of 患者-寄付するd AML 生体検査s and world-主要な 前進するd pre-臨床の models, the 研究員s 論証するd that by 規制するing lipid metabolism in the 団体／死体, a protein called Mcl-1, the protein that 容易にするs 麻薬 抵抗, was inhibited in AML 独房s.
"This 過程 makes AML 独房s exquisitely 極度の慎重さを要する to Venetoclax while leaving the normal white 血 独房s 影響を受けない," SA Pathology 研究員 Jason Powell said.
The team is now working to optimise 麻薬s 的ing this pathway to take into 臨床の 裁判，公判s for AML 患者s.
Prof Ross said for most people with AML, the chances of long-称する，呼ぶ／期間／用語 生き残り were no better now than they were last century.
"Now, we have a chance to rem edy that," he said.

The SA 研究 has been published in the haematology 定期刊行物 血.
